Palin Interview to Univision
Univision ^ | 2 weeks before 2008 election

Posted on 08/15/2011 5:20:37 AM PDT by normy

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Now can we start concentrating on beating Obama instead of projecting our own beliefs onto a candidate? Perry is the man to back as the over all best candidate.

Are you saying Perry is the man to back because both he and Palin are soft on criminal invaders? What about backing a candidate who believes in the sovereignty of our Country, or is that asking too much?

"This is out just to prove the Palin supporters support her because they instinctively like her and not because of her Conservative purity."

Unlike Rick Perry?? Who thinks that "...the Arizona immigration law is not the best thing for Texas....".

You mean THAT purveyor of "weasel-words"??

I disagree with Palin on part of this issue, but that doesn't make her any the less the best potential candidate.

My own take is that those who are here illegally, who have worked hard and "kept their noses clean", should be able to APPLY for PERMANENT "legal residency".....but NOT citizenship. The very fact that they came here in violation of our laws means they should NEVER be allowed to determine what those laws should be. "Legal residency" with NO "path to citizenship" fulfills the "compassion" aspect nicely.

A border fence in Texas is idiocy if you’re talking about the Rio Grande.

On what side do you propose the fence to be built?

I see you agree with the part about Bush 2 being pro amnesty just like Bush 1.

RE :"Actually, that was just last night, and we beat the horse to death over there. I’m sorry to see it pop up again."

My only comment is that since this was a 2008 interview, both sides both critical and defense have been argued thousands of times here. She's not even a candidate for POTUS. Boring....

PALIN: People mock the idea of a fence. What’s wrong with building a fence? Yes, let’s physically secure the border

..Duncan Hunter had it right...

My guess is the renewed sudden interest in this old subject is defense of Perry’s record,

Neithor Bush I nor Bush II will be our next POTUS, and you can pencil in 'Sarah Palin' on that list too.

America's ready to be great again,
America is ready for Rick Perry!

Well - is she lying to us or them?

I don't think either. I don't know why a few of her supporters think it's better to say she was misleading people than to admit that her views on everything aren't exactly the same as their view.

I know that whatever candidate I end up voting for, they won't have the same views as I do on every subject. But it seems to me that too many times a few palin supporters here are willing to twist her words to their opinion, or to say she wasn't telling the truth, or that she was forced to act out of loyalty or obligation against what was best for the country.

I choose to believe Sarah Palin when she says something.

I read throught the NumbersUSA web page.

Bachmann by far looks the best right now. Palin has not commented, according to NumbersUSA, on 8 out of 12 of their questions, the highest of any candidate or potential candidate.

If Palin gets in the race, and on the 8 out 12 remaining questions they put up, she does not improve, then she can be eliminated like Perry.

This is one web page and this is what they said about Perry’s comments:

End Birthright Citizenship
Gov. Perry has made no statements regarding the ending of Birthright Citizenship.

Perry has commented on “Ending Birthright Citizenship”, and Perry said it was divisive.

So, when NumbersUsa finally gets those comments by Perry, he will have a guaranteed “F”, along with Ron Paul.

Perry is elimintated from GOP Contention because of what we know about him, and his comments, and in-state tuitions law passed and signed by him.

Palin is a question mark right now, on illegal immigration.

You have to make choices. Dallas gets hit by a terror strike, killing Children, from narcos or muslim terrorists sneaking across the Rio Grande, and everyone in Texas will be asking for the Fence or a Militarized Border.

Without the fence, you are looking at 10 maybe 15,000 National Guardsmen on the border to stop the flow.

Bush, and Perry, would not, and will not want to militarize the border and offend the Mexicans.

So, what will happen to the Texas Border with Mexico, if Perry becomes President. Nothing, just a token increase in Border Agents, with drugs, illegal immigrants, and potentially muslim terrorists crossing the borden at will.

Perry is not the answer.

Perry has said that the Border Fence is Stupid,

Perry has said that he is against denying citizenship to baby’s born in the U.S. of illegan immigrants,

Perry is for providing in-state tuition benefits to children of illegal immigrants. (That is an incentive for the Mexican illegals to keep their children in school in Texas, knowing that they will get what only U.S. Citizens in Texas receive)

We had George W. Bush, who was awful on illegal immigration, we do not need George W. Bush Jr., or Rick Perry.

Just because we want to get rid of Obama, does not mean we need to elect a loser on illegal immigration, an issue, as important as the economy.

We don’t get tough on Illegal Immigration, we are done as a country.
