North Carolina University Puts Out List of 'Gay-Friendly' Churches
FoxNews.com ^ | August 15, 2011

A North Carolina state university has put out a list of approved "gay-friendly" churches for faculty and students raising concerns by at least one professor that taxpayers are inadvertently involved in "telling people where to go to church."

An office with the University of North Carolina's Wilmington campus began circulating the list late last month. It was compiled as part of a broader guide to gay-friendly businesses, nonprofits, health centers and other services in the area.

The "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and allied students, faculty, staff, and alumni" office described the document as a "local resource guide" for "lgbt staff and faculty." The head of the sociology department later suggested professors share it with their students.

But Mike Adams, a criminology professor on campus who went from atheist to Christianity, said the university should not be in the business of recommending churches.

"It's just amazing," he told FoxNews.com. "It appears to me to be the height of not just silliness, but government waste."

In the guide, the office listed five Wilmington churches as "gay-friendly religious organizations." Included on the list were a Presbyterian church, a Lutheran church and a Unitarian Universalist congregation.

The LGBT office on campus could not be reached for comment.

Seems they've gone beyond LGBT to LGBTQIASFS. Soon they'll throw the entire alphabet at us.

And then, if you still disagree, they’ll throw the book at you. (Book’em, Danno!)

More likely bathroom stalls with crucifix shaped holes bored into the privacy dividers.

Say what you like, but I’ve seen too much.

I think that Mike Adams would be an enormous PITA, were I his employer. However, in this case, he's 100% correct.

Goose, meet Gander. Liberals would be screaming if the U put out a list of "family friendly" churches, or somesuch.

I think most mainline Christian denominations are friendly towards gays THAT WISH TO STOP SINNING and FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD.

Perhaps it would be more constructive to publish a list of gays who are interested in reforming their sinful ways, and see which churches would want to help them...those would be what I would consider gay-friendly churches. And the individuals would be considered ‘Church-Friendly’ gays.

Correct. This comes a lot closer to an establishment (actually voicing an official preference for some churches over others) than the things that crowd reliably shrieks about.

“I think that Mike Adams would be an enormous PITA, were I his employer.”

Since his (immediate) employer is a state university, I got no problem with that!

By adding the A for “allied”, they’ve announced that homosexuality isn’t just for butt pirates and carpet munchers anymore. Now, we can ALL join their little gay club.

And if you don’t want to join, then there must be something wrong with you and you need help (or at least kicked out of school, or fired, or whatever else they can come up with to punish the decent people).

To: Hunton Peck; All

government funds are being used to endorse certain religions.

it is a state funded school.

it is established case law this may not be done.

who defined “gay friendly”? How about friendly to helping people out of the darkness of the fetish? What about a hedonistic church of some wiccanism?

whatever professor or administrator allowed this should be fired on the spot.

This also creates a hostile environment because those churches not on the state approved list are now with students who are being ostracised.

By adding the A for “allied”

I think the "A" stands for "affirming."

Don't ask me how I know that.

The folks in the bizarre world of disability politics (where anyone who wants to be cured of what ails them is the moral equivalent of Uncle Tom) keep trying to expand the definition of “disabled” (or “challenged”, or whatever the term du jour is), to give as many people as possible the idea that they have some skin in the game.

I know of one for sure.

Pullen Memorial Baptist Church. Right next to the NCSU campus on Hillsborough Street.
