Aliens may destroy humanity to protect other civilisations, say scientists

Rising greenhouse emissions may tip off aliens that we are a rapidly expanding threat, warns a report for Nasa

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.

Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth's atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.

This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by scientists at Nasa and Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.

The Guardian — for those who thought the Weekly World News was too straitlaced.

OTOH - Aliens are most likely to be in awe of earth’s masters and deem them Gods of the Universe, a far more likely scenario.

No scientists needed, this is the theme of countless stupid liberal sci fi films, including the preposterous remake of “The Day The Earth Stood Still”.

The aliens love living things and the environment so much they come here to kill all of us and everything we ever manufactured, but Keaneu Reeves (alien) sees Jennifer Connely and a black kid cry over this as he kills everyone so THEN he realizes it was a bad idea!

We get to live but he takes away ALL energy from us. FU Hollywood AND the pseudo scientists who wrote these high school level papers.

Fascinating how THEY get to travel the universe and kill all of us with their advanced technology, but it was important they “save the Earth” by making even peoples’ watches stop. Typical liberal daydream.

They should teach those Rocket Scientists at NASA a little bit about history, and common sense. The Earth has had periods of volcanic activity where the amount of toxic gases in the atmosphere, especially so-called green house gases was hundreds of times higher than it is today...and that was millions of years before man was around. From a bazillion miles away the tree hugger aliens would never know the difference.

“There’s no point in acting all surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for fifty of your Earth years so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaints and its far too late to start making a fuss about it now.”

So - a group of eggheads whose paychecks mostly come from taxpayers’ wallets, have come up with a comic book plot. We have stepped through the looking glass here, people.

Not entirely apropos, but I need to get this thought on record:

I will not be at all surprised if at some point in the coming months Obama makes some veiled reference to Area 51, the "Roswell Incident" or some other pop-culture, extra-terrestrial meme.

The intent being, of course, to show us that we really can't trust anyone else at the head of the ship of state right now, whilst he's in intense negotiations with our overlords from Alpha Centauri. Best to re-elect the First Black President Who Brought Us Into the Galactic Union. Or some such BS.

I'm serious, I can see him trying it. He won't mention it's a cookbook.

They are REALLY getting desperate!!!

And WE are paying for THIS. Anyone associated with this work should be terminated, maybe even with extreme prejudice.

Aliens won’t destroy us outright when its so much easier to bleed us dry.

Oh wait, you’re talking about space aliens.
