I like Bourdain, but isn’t he a chain smoker? What the heck is he talking about?

I love Bourdain’s show on Travel Channel. Of COURSE he’s going to make fun of the competition on the Food Network! I’m wondering how Sandra Lee tore into him. Her “boyfriend” is the Governor or New York, after all;-)

Chain smoker and other substances I believe.

This guy is the worst type of crap in the mouth New Yorker. Can’t get by on his own talent, so he stirs up attention going after other people.

I’m not a Paula Deen fan, but give me a break.

Chain smoker, consumes massive amounts of alcohol, and jokes about drug use.

yeah he’s the picture of health

He stopped smoking years ago when his daughter was born. I think he cleaned up his act a little when he married.

He is right about Deen, of course. Burgers on glazed donuts! I love Southern cooking but she gave that up for pure excess.

Both have their faults but at least he is trawling for good tasting food.

BTW he isn’t really a chef any more. He only eats now.

He ate a half cooked iguana on one show. In another he ate beside a pile of goat dung complaining about the flys.

yummmm

I can’t remember who said this, but he/she claimed that Southern cooking was basically about sugar, fats, and alcohol.

But what would I know? I’m from California. I like my salad crisp and with avocado, my rib steak rare, and full-bodied red wine to go with both.

Sandra Lee must have served him her “Hannukah Cake.”

Nevermind that most marshmallows aren’t Kosher...

Okay it's Friday and we've had a rough week (and I've lost a ton of money). So what can be better than a good food fight?

I actually like Anthony Bourdain and he's got some talent as a writer. I read Kitchen Confidential and can recommend it as a good look into the Restaurant World. But the guy really is overbearing. He's a typical North Eastern Liberal who's full of himself. He's got a habit of bad mouthing a lot of people. Who in the world could find fault with a guy like Emeril Lagasse or Bobby Flay? They seem to be good guys. Bourdain trashes both, particularly Lagasse. Outrageous.

But having said that he's got a point of the unhealthy aspects of Paula Deen's cooking. I'm sure Deen's food is delicious but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is trying to lose or not gain weight. It's also fantastically heavy on sugar, fat and cholesterol. It's a Cardiologist's Nightmare. So Bourdain has a minor point here. You shouldn't eat the likes of Deen's food (at least very often) if you want to stay healthy.

Paula Deen seems to have a nice personality and an entertaining show. Anthony Bourdain, on the other hand, is probably a snob.

You know, hubby & I can’t stand Paula Deen. I mean, she is a nice lady, but even hearing about her food is enough to give you a heart attack.

But Anthony Bourdain?

Insufferable!

He’s no snob. He’s a NYC asshole, born and bred.
