Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?
8/27/11 | Listenhillary

Posted on 08/27/2011 7:00:28 PM PDT by listenhillary

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

Guess I just don’t like manipulative, lying, bottom feeding scum.

Don't be so hard on yourself. We still like you.

Some of us HAVE looked into the stories. I’m not sure who the hell I’m going to vote for.

Some repeat the same stories that they have seen through the eyes on one or two bloggers interpretations of the events.

Want to have an impact? Take your discussion outside of FR. Buy ads in newspapers and TV telling the rest of the story according to your view of the events. Write letters to the editors of your local papers.

It’s a marketplace of ideas. If you win, I’ll vote for the Republican nomination for president. I’d just like to hear something NEW.

My Candidate didn’t support or work for ALGORE. How’s that for positive?

Ronald Reagan was a DEMOCRAT until he came to his senses, how's THAT for positive?

I think what “listenhillary” is saying is instead of turning FR into a lets hate Perryfest, lets promote positive reasons that we like the other candidates.

IMHO I think we should make FR a place that says the city dog catcher is worlds above this jackass Obama.

OK, but you are NOT having any impact saying the same thing over and over on FR.

You'd be surprised at the number of different people just lurking day by day, sometimes this month, sometimes next month.

These are defficiencies in a man claiming to be a conservative who wants to be POTUS, not dog-catcher, but POTUS.

And since the Perry Apologists will make every excuse possible for Perry, it behooves those of us not wanting "Just good enough" but an actual conservative to keep posting the truth about Perry.

I understand that those who have settled for Perry, who don't care about Illegal Immigration, who don't care that he signed a Hate Crimes Bill, or Guardisil, or the TTC, who don't care that he isn't a limited-government, individual-rights conservative would get tired of having the truth posted repeatedly, but for the sake of those who haven't made their minds up, and for the sake of the truth, we will continue to post the truth where Perry is concerned.

Congratulations! It took 25 posts to see one positive that actually responded to the thrust of the thread! With an amendment at 34. Good for you.

Perry will be quitting in the middle of his term, when he promised the people of Texas he wouldn't quit to run for President.

Does that count as quitting? Or just lying? Or both?

The exact same four or five issues have been discussed, rehashed for two weeks. Tell me something new or like the title says, tell me who I should vote for and why.

Mcmeador, I don’t have a candidate yet either, but, could basically support any of those in the race (with varying degrees of enthusiasm, for sure).

But I do think it is a good idea to flip the pancake and list the positives of each one, as we see them, rather than continually rehash the negatives.

Noting the negatives is important. But there is more to the decision making process than that.

Same, same. Perry may only marginally slow this country’s descent into financial hell. (Unless he gets a “Moderate” Congress then all bets are off).

That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you are convinced in advance that Cain or someone like him cannot win, then you have already surrendered to the Party hacks, country-clubbers, and crony-capitalist empire-builders like Perry. Cain, Bachmann, and Palin are the only real Tea Party candidates. Perry is an imposter climbing on our bandwagon. Kick him off!

“The exact same four or five issues” are the opposite of conservatism.

Perhaps that explains the negativity towards Perry on a conservative site? Ya think perhaps?

I can post the most important positive about all of the candidates.

They aren’t Obama.

That said, they all stink a little.

No, I absolutely wouldn’t. I would vote third party or write-in. My principles won’t allow me to support either Perry or Obama for president. I believe that a wolf in sheep’s clothing can be much more dangerous than an obvious radical Marxist.

Do you know what the Bilderbergers are and do and why they meet?

Thought so.

Exactly, My, exactly!!

Our squabbles about the "BEST CONSERVATIVE" candidate will only give us 4 more years of 0bozo!

It is clear we are going to tear each other to ribbons much worse than the Dems did for their primaries. That’s my problem.
