The Racist History of The Republican Party

Before you start swearing and spitting nails, the title is a misnomer. It's a play on the revisionist history the liberal Dems have been selling for over half a century.

Watch the video. Bet you're going to learn a whole lot of things you didn't know. I did.

Concerning right to work laws (which I mentioned in a prior post), here are the states where liberty is truly cherished against union thuggery. Compare this to the 2008 election map. The states where freedom is championed mostly overlap with those where Sarah Palin (and her running mate) triumphed:

Well I’m old enough to have heard MLK when he was alive so I’m pretty much immune to the Saint Martin myth that has become our national religion after his death.

MLK wasn’t a liberal. John Kennedy was a liberal. MLK was a leftist with two close advisers who were members of the CPUSA, Hunter Pitts O’Dell and Stanley Levison. This at a time when communism was an existential threat to the Free World. It was King’s close association with these two Party agents that moved Robert Kennedy to wiretap him.

King was without a doubt a plagiarist, his doctoral thesis contained large portions lifted word for word from another thesis. Ted Pappas wrote a book on King’s plagiarism and there has been at least one other. The Kennedy wiretaps also revealed the Reverend King to be an accomplished serial adulterer, one who makes Bill Clinton look like a choirboy. I think the good Reverend earns extra points for accomplishing this while being, well, a Reverend.

“If only the Democrats believed in those principles.”

I think nothing amuses me more than the habit here of imagining the Democrats as the fount of wickedness and the GOP as the source of goodness. The Democrat Party had a large group within it known as the Conservative Coalition, mostly Southern, that ran Congress from the 1930s until the mid 1960s. This coalition did more to stop FDR and his progressive heirs than anything the wimps in the GOP accomplished, in large measure because the GOP had a powerful progressive wing that dominated the party. This is the GOP wing that helped Lyndon Johnson pass his Great Society programs which included the Civil Rights Bill of 1964. It is this bill that greatly expanded the ability of the federal government to control more and more of your daily life. Be sure to thank all of those wonderful ‘pubbies for bringing this gift that keeps on giving to you.

I don’t doubt what you say about MLK. But we need to pick our battles, and now is certainly not the time to fight MLK. Anyone who does will quickly be branded a racist, not just by the liberal media, but by many (poorly informed) conservatives as well. I don’t normally believe in backing down from phoney charges of racism, but in this case it’s just a losing proposition. Sure, we can talk about MLK’s major flaws among ourselves, but if the Republicans went national with it they would get creamed. We need to just focus on his positives at this point. His message of nonviolence did save a lot of pain after all.

As for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, I am honestly not very familiar with the details in it, but my impression is that it was generally a very positive development. What in particular didn’t you like about it?

Whoever made that, misspelled THE on the right hand side. Weird.

That bill enabled ideological meddling in large areas of American life. Some of its results include Quotas. Racial set asides. Minority preferences. Employment requirements being reduced or eliminated to assure equality of result. Reverse discrimination. Prosecution of businesses and property owners using statistical arguments. School districts being taken over by activist judges.

It doesn’t just deal with race. The bill includes sections for women that empowered the feminist agenda. It has been used to advance other agendas including ‘gay marriage’. It’s been a marvelous tool for allowing a power grab by activists inside government agencies set up to enforce the act, and for those who use the courts to force their agenda on the rest of society. Whenever there is some sort of great social change being forced upon an unwilling American public you won’t have to look far to find the 1964 Civil Rights Act involved. As the “rights for illegal aliens” movement progresses just watch what the legal argument uses.

It’s a great bill if you like an ever larger and more intrusive government wielding power in the name of diversity and equality, making sure that the little people are politically correct.

The left-wing when confronted with this information always trys to resort to claims that both parties switched ideology at one or another point in history.

Interesting that you say that. Some lib made that exact claim in the comments section.

The democrat parties histpry is consistent and should be pointed out. They are and have always been the party of socialism, slavery, racism, terrorism and treason.

That's an argument that we on the right are going to have to relentlessly hammer home. It's the truth, which should be our weapon of choice.

It said Robert Byrd was the senator from Massachusetts. that is not correct he was the senator from West Virginia. If they have one thing wrong. I wonder what else there is.

Interesting that you'd attempt to cast a pall of doubt over the whole video because of one wrong (and minor) factoid.

What's your opinion of the central thrust of the video?

It would have more impact if it didn’t have some mis-information in it (like stating Robert Byrd was a senator from Mass.).

Hmm....yet another vote to invalidate the whole piece because of one incorrect (and minor) factoid.

What's your opinion of the central thrust of this history lesson?

Windflier, this video is fabulous. My only criticism of it is that it gets a bit weak at the end with the quotes from Biden. Biden calling Obama “clean” may have been slightly awkward, but it certainly does not rise to the level of the flagrant racism Democrats of the past.

The other thing to be aware of is that modern Democrats will invariably claim that the parties “switched” around the 60s, and racist Democrats all became Republicans! Until we effectively counter this claim, the rest is all just ancient history. I tried to do that in my article linked above at http://RussP.us/racism.htm.

By the way, is the text of this video available somewhere as a text file? I’d like to steal some of it if you don’t mind.

Gotta agree, but you know it was put together by someone who's not a professional at these things. Damn great job for an amateur, I'd say.
