I think his handlers quickly told him never to say that again and explained that ‘good enough for govt. work’ really meant any old piece of crap thrown together which can then be sold to government at 10 times the cost.

What’s this that he says about knowing Islam on three contintents before going to the middle east? One would be the US or North America. Two would be Indonesia or Asia. But what is the third? Australia? From what he’s said, all he ever knew of Australia other than as a stop over at the airport. Can’t be that he’s lying again.

That said, the “I am one of them” quote seems to be taken out of context.
You can tell from the editing that it’s the end of a sentence in which he probably said something about “people who live in Muslim lands. I know, I am one of them.”
The whole sentence should be shown for it to be valid and effective.
So, again, what was the third continent where he lived the muslim life before going to Pakistan in 1981?

Well, then... that explains it.
He lies by default. He exaggerates by default. So, there aren’t 3 continents, no temporal congruity and no immersion. Or there are 3 continents and a brief glancing experience spread out over 25 years. He just blathers on to win over the Muslims, whose leaders likely have his number, anyway.
However, don’t forget his photo op in native dress in Somalia.
I am sure he includes that. It is all about him, anyway, so accuracy is immaterial.
