Arizona GOP is Giving Away a Glock
New York Magazine - Daily Intel ^ | 9-2-11 | New York Magazinie

A late August newsletter from the Pima County Republican Party plugged an upcoming raffle with a questionable prize: a Glock handgun, not unlike the one Jared Loughner used to kill six people and wound thirteen others, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, in January. "Get yourself a new Glock 23 .40 cal handgun for just 10 bucks — if your name is drawn. That's right, for just 10 dollars this gun could be yours," reads the announcement, which comes complete with a picture of the shiny, black gun. There's also a reminder to act now: "Tickets will go quick for this firearm!" While Giffords's office declined to comment, the Pima Republicans confirmed the raffle. To be fair, this particular Glock model isn't exactly tied to the recent tragedy: Whereas Loughner used a Glock 19, the prize is a Glock 23, which is actually more powerful.

You have to remember the New York Magazine author’s frame of reference...he is probably an Ivy League or Ivy League-lite graduate (NYU, Tufts, U. Chicago, Vanderbilt) who lives in a city with a handgun ban and whose Westchester/Upper East Side/Wellesley upbringing of 60-70’s era academics or lawyers who hated guns and the military.

He is probably gay, or bisexual and loves the “urban” Lefty life of HuffPo, MoveOn, MSM cocktail parties (no pun intended) and the pseudo-literary crowd whose doorman-protected buidings never include the oppressed masses they leave in perpetual victimhood, well, unless working as a janitor or maid.

Guns are as foreign to these types as you and I are of hearing food stamps and the EPA are helpful to the economy.

I was a literature major at a Northeastern private university. I wasn’t aware of much about politics until my last years, but when John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Michael Dukakis and Bill Clinton showed up at my graduation, I knew how much I couldn’t stand them (yes, I voted for Perot and helped usher in Bubba’s 8-year Stained Blue Dress Era), but I digress...

Guns evoke irrational fear, not respect like Conservatives, to Liberals. They live by emotion and Hollywood, the MSM and Marxist Dems stoke their fears...all with armed bodyguards at their disposal, ironically.

Disarmament is the peacenik way to ensure nobody can hurt each other...or the same tactics Stalin, Mao, Hitler and Chavez use to create a murderous police state...say, like Mexico...aren’t guns illegal to citizens there? Chicago? DC?

I have concluded the Liberal is a lost cause, so programmed by media images (sounds and sights) that they are almost trained to despise guns, borders, freedom, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney or Paul Ryan by the “Sounds of Silence” type of reaction...

Who knows...

As gay as their faggot Obama altars in their own living rooms..

There's an old song in my misspent youth that I vaguely remember that has these lines:

"From Bogart to Bowie,

From He-man to She-man..."

Sadly, it applies today in regards to our current occupant of the White House.

Obama may not be the first gay president, but he is certainly the most effeminate.

From He-man to She-man...

I followed my favorite college baseball team to Ruston, LA a few years back, and I definitely knew I wasn’t in California anymore when the in-game raffle prize winner was announced, and they were told to come and pick up their new rifle!

True!

But in the Glock vein, I would prefer a 27 with Pierce grip extensions.

10+1 and way easier to conceal.

I’m a Glock 19 man myself, but I sure wouldn’t mind having a G26 to keep it (and my G21) company.

“Wish there had been a few somebodies there with this gun to shoot Loughner down.”

If he had tried it at a Republican event in AZ, you can guarantee he wouldn’t have gotten more than a couple rounds off.

“If this is true, which I doubt, it’s incredibly dumb and worthy of firing that entire county’s GOP leadershop.”

Why?

If you like Glocks, the .40 is a good caliber and someone probably donated it. I shot one recently and it’s a very nice gun. Heck, the R’s in my area just had an “Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms” event (it was just a shooting event but I liked that they refused to accept PC).

Do we all stop shooting because someone famous in AZ got shot? Wimpy.

Every year or two the local Fraternal Order of Police will raffle off a similar Glock. I’m always good for a ticket.

It is a little too soon though in their neighborhood. Not a bad idea, but bad timing.

I just think it’s a bad idea because it is easy fodder for the Dems. The GOP in Gifford’s district is raffling guns?

I’m against the politics of it and think it is terrible judgement by the GOP leadership in Pima Country. I don’t think it’s bad there is a gun being raffled to donors, though.

Flame away at me, but this is a dumb move, IMO.

The G-23 is not as powerful as the one used by Demsocrats to kill Lincoln.

Call it tribute to the senator.

The Sacramento Bee:

People here own guns, lots of people – including Giffords, who owned the same model weapon used in her shooting.

This doesn’t say whether the gun was the only thing that was raffled, either. There could have been ten raffle prizes and the MSM would still be all agog at the gun.
