youtube ^ | 8/23/11

Posted on 09/03/2011 3:00:44 AM PDT by sushiman

The Antelope Valley is a vast patch of desert on the outskirts of Los Angeles County, and a segment of the few rugged individualists who live out there increasingly are finding themselves the targets of armed raids from local code enforcement agents, who've assembled into task forces called Nuisance Abatement Teams (NATs).

Code enforcers can be very dangerous - as dangerous as the IRS. I have a friend who was driven into jail by code enforcers (he didn’t fix his porch properly, so it was said, and was blizzarded by violations).

The real reason he was targetted is that he was the town historian and was trying to stop a corrupt redevelopment from taking place. That’s my NJ!

There is one universal problem all over this fine nation of ours, to much government. The American people need to grow a pair and shut down oppressive government everywhere it is found.

Complaints from neighbors? One man had no neighbors for 10 miles!
Maybe their comments about the “why” were correct, developers wanted cheap land.

Conflict of interest by Antonovich is alleged

The L.A. County supervisor’s wife was owed more than $200,000 by an affiliate of AEG when he voted on a measure about its plans for a downtown football stadium. He denies a conflict.

Thank you for posting, Sushiman. This absolutely infuriates me. These “rugged” individuals aren’t doing anything illegal (that is, making drugs etc). They are simply living their lives as they see fit. A “pursuit of happiness” issue to me... they want to live there and why shouldn’t they? Why this section of land that is targeted? If it has to do with big shrubs, motor homes etc... why don’t we hear about an “enforcement” team roaming around Appalachia?

What saddened me incredibly was the interview with the Vietnam Veteran. He fought for Our Country, our freedoms, our liberty, our American way of life. For what? To have his property... his home taken away from him. Sorry to vent, FR’s... it’s just not America anymore. I don’t know what it is but it certainly isn’t Our America.

You own nothing. The government owns you.

There is not one thing you own, including your life, that the government does not have legal machinery already in place to confiscate from you. In reality, you own nothing. What you think you own, you use stricly by the government’s leave and permission, and you often pay government extortion and submit to proctology exams for the privilege of delusive ownership.

My only major asset is a cruising sailboat. International waters are 12mi away, and if the country continues on it’s course I will be an expatriate.

Yes it is bueno.

It is from another source and properly stated.

The only reason I mentioned it is that someone interested in the ongoing discussion could gain more background on it.

There are also other articles listed on FR about this.

I’m ready to try the Dominican Republic for a year. I have friends in the Rio Dulces in Guatemala who keep asking me to come, but I’ll wait until after the troubles are over. Anywher I have an internet connection I can make a living.
