A CAMPAIGN treasurer for Democratic lawmakers in California -- including Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Loretta Sanchez -- was arrested by the FBI on suspicion of mail fraud, The Orange County Register reported.
US Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek said Kinde Durkee, of Durkee and Associates, was arrested by the FBI on a criminal complaint filed by the US Attorney's Office in Sacramento. KTLA-TV reported that the arrest took place in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, where Durkee's office are located.
FBI Special Agent Steve Dupre said Durkee's arrest was linked with her position as a campaign treasurer for Democrats running at federal, state and local levels.
State Senator Lou Correa told The Register authorities had told him they believe he and many other political candidates may be victims of the fraud. He said he believed he had lost "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in campaign funds.
"This is clearly a sense of betrayal of someone I have trusted for a number of years," Correa said.
Durkee and Associates' website says that "since 1972 we have worked for five Presidential campaigns, four gubernatorial campaigns, numerous senate, congressional, state and local candidates, initiatives, political action committees and many non-profit associations and small businesses."
Federal Election Commission records cited by The Register show that Durkee is the treasurer for Feinstein and Sanchez, while California Secretary of State records show she serves as treasurer for more than 100 state-level committees.
Mrozek told The Register he expected Durkee to make her initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

It’s a sad statement when car dealerships and their sales people in this nation operate with a higher degree of ethics than our politicians.
Any photos of the alleged perp? A quick search highlights the OC Register story, but all they have are photos pimping the pols that might have been victims.
And a couple of other local news sites do the same thing with fewer pol photos.
How the heck did the arrest happen? Bet there’s a backstory here....

But it is her being also treasurer of below club/group which indicates both why she was appointed to so many positions and why she will walk from the criminal charges: She belongs to a privileged group in America's new Orwellian society. From opensecrets.org (LINK):
