I’ve thought about getting a Taser, which is like the device described in the post except you shoot the probes into the attacker rather than walking up to him and pushing them in.

My latest idea is to buy a 45 caliber revolver called The Judge that will also take .410 shotgun shells. Nonlethal loads can be put in the shells, or the first couple of rounds could be nonlethal and the rest more penetrating.

A friend said many intruders would disappear when they heard the click when you cocked the firing pin, and the terrific noise and flash from the gun, even if you shot a blank, would give them a disorienting scare, as for all they would know in the first few seconds, a bullet just went into their guts.
