(Vanity) Did you just see/hear the singing of the National Anthem at the Bears/Falcons game?!?!?!
Unsung hero who sang ^ | 9/11/11 | Francis Scott Key

I don't know WHO that guy was/is who sang the national anthem to kick off the game at Chicago stadium, but he SANG (not performed) in the most onwderful way. The crowd was roaring and cheering at his rendition and broke into a great USA USA USA chant ... but Fox broke away to a commercial.

Wish I could been there.

GREAT day.

I don't even care if the Falcons win. Chicago deserves it for picking THAT GUY to sing, and letting him sing it that way.

WOW!!!

Was it this guy? Jim Cornelison. If so, he does the Blackhawks’ games, too.

THAT is EXACTLY how the anthem should be SUNG, not “performed”.

Kudos to Chicago and their fans.

I live in the ATL area and I guaranteed we’d never get to see that in the Ga Dome. Too politically and ehnically correct here.

I don’t know who the sailor was who sang before the Eagles/Rams game on fox but he had a great command snd voice. Fox blew it on the sound because they seemed to be mic’ing the stadium PA system but the performance was wonderful.

It wasn’t Pallazzo.

From the live-blog on http://www.chicagobears.com/

“12:06 PM - The 9/11 commemoration before today’s game included actor Robert DeNiro delivering a message and taps being played live in Shanksville, Pa., where one of the hijacked planes crashed during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. In addition, there was 60 seconds of silence, Jim Cornelison sang the National Anthem, and American flag covering the entire field was held by Bears players and coaches as well as Chicago area policemen and firemen who traveled to New York and Washington D.C. to lend a hand following the attacks.”

He replaced Wayne Messmer who was shot in the throat by thugs in front of a restaurant.

Maybe the best anthem I have ever heard:

That unrolling of the massive American flag was quite impressive, too. When I heard that strong voice come on for the National Anthem, I knew it was going to be a meaningful rendition — sticking to the right notes and singing it for all its worth. And the crowd felt it, too!

I just wish that all those wishy-washy singers, who usually sing, would get a clue.

If a video of TODAY'S rendition pops up anywhere; would someone be kind enough to post it to this thread?

Looks like the FOX scorer is of the same mind. Erlacher ran in a rumble, stumble, fumble recovery and it came up ( briefly ) as a Falcons TD.

Daaaaaaaa Bears. Da Bears.

Thank for posting Blue...

thanks for the link Zin...

By chance, I saw it live....it was amazing...

I knew that the NFL had special things planned for today, but I am so thrilled that I saw THIS..

I said to my husband- “WOW! That was just the PERFECT tone for our anthem and this day. It was powerful and in your face, not fancy. It was American.”

I have to say- this weekend was just magical.

I finally sat my girls down and talked about 9/11...they are 11 and 12....I made them watch voices of 9/11 on youtube...amazing, btw- over 30 minutes long, but just perfect for them to see and understand since they were so young. We talked about it afterwards.......

TOday we went to a station house that is connected to a precinct...we did not drop off food. We brought a grill, 20 T-Bone steaks, 10 lbs of chicken, 2 cobblers, enough mashed potatoes for 40, a gallon of gravy, cookies, and sodas, water, tea, etc....

we hung out and cooked for them...served them....

we spent 4 hours there with them...

I am ASHAMED that I have never done this before...I am EMBARRASSED that we don’t do more...

We promised to be back, and as a family, we have decided to be there for them at least once a month....Shame on us....

GOD BLESS AMERICA! and may God please forgive us for taking our country and those who serve us, so for granted...
