When it was over, Henry Earl Byrne, 43, of 3413 NE 183rd Lane, was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault and booked into the Alachua County jail by the Gainesville Police Department.
Police spokeswoman Cpl. Andelina Valuri said the motive for the incident was an argument between Byrne and a 38-year-old Gainesville woman. Byrne was apparently upset with the womans 21-year-old son, who had been dating Byrnes adult daughter, Valuri said.
The woman tried to end the argument by going to her sons home in Meadowcrest, but Byrne followed her, according to an arrest report by Officer Sara Muse.
Witnesses told police Byrne aggressively backed into the sons driveway, parking his truck half on the lawn and half in a designated parking spot. Byrne then jumped out and began yelling at the son while carrying what was later identified as a stun gun, Muse said.
The son told police he jumped out of the way, but his 23-year-old roommate was behind him, and Byrne used the stun gun on the roommate.
While the roommate and Byrne struggled over control of the stun gun, witnesses told police they saw Byrne reach into the bed of his pickup and pull out a machete. Witnesses told police Byrne charged at the roommate with the machete, cutting the roommate on the left shoulder.
At some point during the incident, the son or roommate swung a baseball bat toward Byrne, but missed and broke a headlight on his truck, Valuri said.
The roommate told police that after Byrne cut him, Byrne jumped back into his truck and sped off.
When police arrived, the roommate showed them what appeared to be swollen probe marks from the stun gun on his chest and an inch long cut on his shoulder that was still bleeding, Muse said. The roommate declined medical care, but Valuri said the 25-year-old pregnant woman, who had been sitting on a porch and saw the entire scene unfold, was taken to an area ambulance after she began hyperventilating and was concerned she might have gone into premature labor.
Byrne was found near his home a couple of hours later and refused to explain what happened, Muse wrote in her report. He was taken to jail.
Sounds like gangrene hour. Should have gone to happy hour instead.
Gun control *works*!

Nothing. Just looked to see if it was the family reunion for my ex-wife’s family. Didn’t see anything about chainsaws, so I knew it wasn’t them.
The roommate told police that after Byrne cut him, Byrne jumped back into his truck and sped off.
But that's illegal! I mean, you can't drive a truck with only one headlight...
Inch long cut from a machete whack?
If you live in the Meadowcrest Apts in Gainesville, FL you might be a redneck.
