An emphatic “no comment!” would have been a far better answer.

Agreed.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The way for any candidate to approach this, IMHO, is to say that the goal here is to get Obama out of office as quickly as possible. The best way to do that is to present his record, and run against that and for what the candidate proposes.

Discussion of the BC issue only serves to inflame the Left. They aren’t rational, and they aren’t going to be convinced otherwise. They ENJOY watching us whine about this distraction.

Like what Denzel Washington’s character in “Training Day” said: “It’s NOT what you KNOW, it’s WHAT you can PROVE!!”

Stick to the issues, stay away from the BC, LEAD, and we will win.

Congratulations, you are among the very, very few on FR who knows that the spelling of “you're” is the correct one, i.e., the contraction of “you” and “are.” Most spell it “your” which is a possessive pronoun, as in “I am using your computer.”

With this one issue, Santorum won’t be getting my vote.

Not that there ever was a change he’d get it.

Wrong comparison. Those deal with visas, naturalization papers, etc. Most things don't require birth citizenship.

Where's the burden of proof? Right now, it's on Obama challengers to prove, with facts and not conjecture, that he's not born here. That's the only thing that could stand up in court to get a judgment against him (longshot) and knock him off the ballot in some of these states for 2012.

It's well proven than Soros was born in Hungary. The perception, based on newspaper accounts, and alleged birth certificate, whether it is real or otherwise, is that Obama was born in Hawaii. I don't know if he is or not. It's up to challengers to refute that presumption with facts and not conjecture, more than some statements here and there. It would probably take a Keyan or Indonesian birth certificate to prove otherwise.

Personally I think its a waste of time to ask presidential candidates about it. It would be far more effective to require proof in the individual states.

I agree, and think there should be birth certificate requirements at the state level to get on the ballot.

Whether Obama's "official released" is real or BS is up for debate, but even if it is otherwise, courts would likely say removing a president has impeachment procedures in the constitution, and it's up to Congress.

No, Rick, you were the chosen one!

The liberal writers (Susan Dumbass) around here keep asking Tim Walberg about it then writing stories calling him a crazy birther.

Basically all he’s said is that he doesn’t know and if the people have questions, they deserve an answer.

“All of our candidates are going to stay as far away from birther lunacy as possible.”

Which begs the question.......Is following the Constitution, namely Article II, lunacy?

Apparently you seem to think so.

I saw that. Tim handled it quite well.

Susan Demas/Dumbass is still angry at her wannabe boyfriend Joe Schwarz losing to Walberg in the primary.

It's just a simple lesson in spelling; I don't know what this has to do with one's credibility.

P.S. But you didn't skip this one, now did you? .

>> quionnes = cojones <<

À propos of that definition, here's a factoid I learned just yesterday:

In certain Latino dialects, huevos = cojones.

In other words, if you order fried eggs for breakfast in some particular Spanish-speaking country, you'd best know exactly what you're talking about!

////////////////
As for proving anything about Mr. obama, since he took office, he has locked everything up tight and getting any documents will require a court order and the judges seem to be in his pocket.

It’s well proven than Soros was born in Hungary
//////////////////
There has also been reliable reports that obama was born in Kenya also. Kenyan government has admitted that he was born there, his family members have admitted that Kenya is his home country. So, why can soros run for President too?

... I’ve found I have to be very circumspect when I boldly venture forth to correct someone’s spelling.

You are right about this. If I posted every time I saw a misspelled word on others' posts, I would have hundreds of thousands of posts. I ignore most of them. It's just the repetition of so many misspelled common words annoy me. Almost all of them stem from ignorance of the English language. It's as though people blithely pay no attention to the spelling of words in the material they read that is written by professional writers.

I credit my ability to spell correctly in most instances to lots of reading while in high school, and I therefore don't call upon spell check very often.

So, as you can see, my speling is imaculate.

Oh no! Heavens to Betsy! Do you mean that Vattel was wrong? I won't go that far. Vattel predates the 14th Amendment and was an influence on legal theory. He's a persuasive authority. Vattel and Blackstone and the others are equivalent to a treatise. They are important. They influence the law. They are however only persuasive authority. They are great for law review articles, to sprinkle in with the meat and potatoes of actual authority. The most authority they have is the potential of being cited by a judge who incorporates parts of it as a reason for the portion of his decision.

What matters more are the constitution, Statutes, Treaties, administrative law decisions, and Court Precedents. The major authority on citizenship is the 14th Amendment, and any explicit "natural born citizen" definition used by the courts - likely 9-0, will use the birth citizenship as somebody born a citizen, or in its most restrictive form, born a citizen on US territory.

“By the way, I suspect at the very least Obama was an anchor baby.”

Huh? We know who his mom was. Are you suggesting he’s not that woman’s son?

It's not up to the challengers. The state of Hawaii actually refused to certify Barack Obama as being eligible for the presidency of the United States so Nancy Pelosi took it upon herself to certify him as eligible. It's up to John Boehner and has been for quite some time.

Eligibility, immigration status and all other Vital records are not confirmed by words and suggestions. They are confirmed with documents. Real ones.

“If there's evidence to the contrary [showing Obama is not eligible], they should bring it forth”

I regard this as a brave and correct statement by Santorum. Name a single GOP candidate who has even allowed for the remote possibility that Obama’s BC could be proved to have been forged by evidence!

Investigation of forgery is exactly what Arpaio’s posse is doing, so I don't feel let down at all, but very encouraged.

One of Orly's biggest mistakes has been to repeatedly make criminal charges against Obama in civil filings in federal court. Criminal defendants are entitled to basic protections under our constitution which Orly has ignored.

Now, for the first time, Arpaio is in a position to impanel a grand jury to properly indict somebody (not necessarily Obama) for forging the WH BC pdf if his posse finds sufficient justification.
