The start of waterfowl hunting season on public lands in the Sacramento Valley has been delayed by a week due to lingering effects of a wet winter.

it's stillWABBIT SEASON!
Are they seriously trying to argue that it’s too wet for ducks?
It’s Elmer Season!
Looking at the news, you’d think it is Bamster season.
Heck, he’s probably envying gerbils these days. At least they have somewhere to hide.
ROFLMAO!!!!! Great point. LOL! Will share this one.
This is very odd. We are now in autumn. Winter is the next season. Ducks will fly south in autumn. I take it California will open up duck hunting season after the last duck flies away.
We need a new saying: “as the duck flies.”
Definition: overreaching governmental repression that comes with busybody micromanagement by effete intellectual snobs who have no intention of understanding what people actually do to live in this country.
They are delaying duck season because the ducks fly away when they shot at.
California banned winter except for the mountains so we can ski.
This year, a wet winter and mild summer delayed rice planting and caused the crop to mature slowly. As a result, a normal hunting start could flush waterfowl into rice fields that haven't been harvested yet, where they would eat the crop and cause economic harm to farmers.
Hunting delays were a regular event until the 1980s. Then technological advances created rice varieties that matured earlier, and there have been only three delayed refuge hunting seasons in the last 26 years. The last was in 2006, also a very wet year.
OK. So “global warming” caused last winter's extreme cold and wet conditions in California ... conditions so bad that in SEPTEMBER, the rice still isn't harvested and might attract ducks into the rice fields.
But that same global warming - measured at less than 1/3 of one degree! - ALSO caused this year's Texas drought AND the east coast's hurricanes.
(Pay no attention to that La Nina condition in the mid-Pacific! Pay no attention to 12 years of cooling temperatures from 1998 high point. )
It’s not fair, I know, but I cheated and read the story at the link.
LAST winter was very, very wet, and it delayed the rice-planting season. Now, the rice harvest has also been delayed. Once Duck hunting season starts, the ducks flee the refuge for the rice fields, which isn’t good for the farmers.
So, duck season get postponed about a week until the rice has been harvested.
A duck once bit my sister.
Series?
Yes, but you’re being logical. About California. I thought logic was now illegal there.
Who needs ducks?
Elmers need ducks
Duck hunters...

After a heavy wet Winter with over 220% snowpack in the Sierra, we have had the coolest Summer that I can remember here. It is still officially Summer for a few more days, but we are starting to dip into the 30s overnight.
Per your tag line; how do I get on the bid list?
Ouch! That’s just wrong!
