Intelligence is a hard thing for the public to judge especially when the evidence is based on media reports. Judging from my own personal experience, those who I know who chose to study mathematics and computer science tended to be far more intelligent than those who chose the subjects that Obama took. You miss a day in a history or political science class and it is no big deal. You get miss a day in calculus and you might have a very hard time catching up. Mr. Cain basically started his career working as “rocket scientist” for the navy. Newt is a smart guy... but if you gave him and Mr. Cain an IQ test judging from the classes they chose in college I believe that the odds would favor Mr. Cain.

No, I get your point also. One of my subordinates on the Hazmat Team is a chemical engineer. There is no doubt that he is very intelligent, but he is not a team player and is very difficult to work with. When we argue about things such as global warming he can be counted on to use tactics that have nothing to do with anything substantive. The best he can come up with is an appeal to authority, “I am a trained scientist” and “99% of trained scientists” agree with me. I counter that a true scientist would support a skeptical review of the data not blindly follow the consensus. But I would have to say that despite his intelligence he still is a “moron” in so many ways.
