In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
melange; noun
a mixture; medley.
Etymology: 1645–55; < French; Old French meslance, equivalent to mesl ( er ) to mix ( see meddle) + -ance noun suffix ≪ Germanic -ingō -ing1
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

In the melange of nonsense which was the last debate, The obdurate "moderators" continued to roister in their abuse of the candidates. Only one candidate remained unflappable, answering trick questions clearly, with a raffish smile.

Reminds me of Dune. "He who rules Arakis controls the spice. He who controls the spice controls the universe." The spice was also called melange in the books. It's really poop from the giant sand worms.
