BARNEY MEETS DEF LEPPARD - it sounded like a good idea after the 6th martini.

I have to agree with the Metallica choices.
They sucked during James Hetfield's rehab.
Lately they've improved though. But I've moved on to 'Disturbed' as my band of choice.

I can't believe In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy by Pat Boone missed this list.

Kiss - Music From "The Elder" That album wasn't even close to being heavy metal. (None of Kiss's albums were, in fact). It was a wannabe Wall.

That actually wasn't such a bad album. Some nice work by Dweezil Zappa on that one.

Will The Circle Be Unbroken" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was one of the worst heavy metal albums of all time. OTOH, it was one of the best albums ever made in several other categories.

I still would take any of these over the Beiber or 30 Seconds to Mars crap out there now. But they did forget the one, ultimate worst insult to Metal ever, so bad, I want to put firecrackers in my ears just thinking about it-

Load wasn't
that bad, and Reload wasn't completely
terrible. St. Anger was
pure crap, though, and Lars ruined whatever flow the album may have had with his staccato and slightly off-tempo drumming. I literally listened to that entire album twice and have never listened to it again. It's on a shelf somewhere; I never even troubled myself to dump it into Napster (then) or iTunes (now).
I also disagree with the inclusion of Bark at the Moon, but then again, I was 11 years old or so then, so perhaps I wasn't the best critic for that work by Ozzy.

Regarding number three, one name disproves the general rule on keyboard players: Jon Lord.

I never have heard the music put out by any of these bands. I have heard “of” thses bands, but not their music.

The mentioned the post-Roth work done by "Van Hagar," but seemed to forget about
Van Halen III with Gary Cherone.
Can't blame them for forgetting that one, I suppose. Who'd want to remember?

I think this list could be expanded - so many bad heavy metal albums that it is best just to forget them.
I’m trying to think of some great ones -
1. the early Metallica of course -
2. Black Sabbath Paranoid and Master of Reality
3. Born Again by Black Sabbath (Ian Gillian instead Dio)
4. Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
5. Helmet - Meantime
But I’m more of southern blues fan - what the heck do I know.

I like volume II even better - released in the late '80's.
