The GOP's New "Two-Man" Race?
The Huffington Zot ^ | 10/6/11 | STEWART J. LAWRENCE

Posted on 10/07/2011 10:11:55 PM PDT by jageorge72

"In fact, Gingrich's growing support among moderates, as well as some conservatives, is so large that he finishes second to Cain in all four states, a surge that's almost as impressive as Cain's."

"A "two-man" race? That's how many pundits described the Republican contest just a couple of weeks ago. But with Cain and Gingrich the only two GOP candidates rapidly increasing their voter support, it's no longer Romney and Perry who can claim that mantle."

Perry was a big let-down. Romney is an unlikable, plastic fraud. Bachmann is toast, Paul is semi-nuts,and fading, Santorum is good but never caught on, & Hunstman is an unlikable version of John McCain.

Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, & Mitt Romney will probably now be the top three. Cain is very likable, but look for Newt's vast experience edge to propel him over Herman Cain in time. IF this were to come down to Newt vs. Romney.... who would you choose?

What’s the difference between Gingrich and Romney?

About 60 IQ points vs. $400 million.

Cheers!

Newt is a DC insider trying to paint himself as an outsider. He has more baggage than an airport as well. Cain is more conservative and has a long record of success in the private sector. He has articulated a plan and a vision. No hope and change mantra for Mr. Cain. Yes he has a downside but he hasn’t passed a statist health care bill like Gov. Romney and Cain doesn’t appear to be a RINO either, I think Newt is an establishment republican. Santorum lost an election to a big time liberal in Penn and that millstone is around his neck. Ron Paul has held consistent positions but will not catch on as well. We will not get a perfect candidate, if I recall Reagan didn’t catch on in 1980 until New Hampshire. Now Cain will make mistakes but at least he admits them and when he doesn’t know something he admits it then goes and researches it to find out. He is a very smart man as well, I like to see him dispatch racists like Larry O’Donnell with more bite but that is just my opinion.

Can we please ban people who use Huffington Post as a source??? That would be like me linking the Weekly World News...

ZOT the shills, they are here to destroy FR!!! Get rid of them please, several of us who've been around for a while KNOW we have folks here with evil agendas and signed up years ago to look legitimate!

Look at my posting history back all ten years and you will not find one liberal argument besides /SUPER DUPER SARCASM!!!

If you are a liberal, go away, I don't even want to be associated with any website that welcomes folks who wish for the destruction of this Grand Republic. These bastards spit on the Constitution and would urinate all over the National Archives in DC if given the opportunity! I'm putting my money where my mouth is, zot the trolls and I will start a damn fundraiser for money per zot.

This tool I said I'd give $300.00 to zot since he is an obvious mole,

for every future zot of a SLeeper FReeper I will donate $20.00 to FR whether we are in a FReepathon or not, I'm on TheOldLady's ping list and I'll put my money where my mouth is.

I want the moles rooted out and sent back to the Huffington Post where they belong!!!!!!!!

I like Santorum, too, maybe his numbers will go up after the next debate. With Palin out, I think people will look again at the conservatives - Bachmann, Cain, Santorum and I’ll included Gingrich just because he is a candidate that would compliment Cain and they both have already acknowledged their respect for one another.

LOL! That is funny. You’re right, he’s been steady in the polls at 11 to 13 percent since about late 2007, so I guess the correct term for Ron Paul’s electoral condition is “stagnant.”

I really like Mr. Cain. I am very pleased that he has advanced. I think he has a good heart and good ideas.

Going into distressed companies and making them profitable shows a lot of smarts. Sadly, our legislature will not allow one person's ideas to be implemented. Or perhaps, not so sadly. Look what could happen with the present administration if there was not a push back in the legislature. In other words..Foggy Bottoms ain't the real world.

Herman Cain is running for President. He's not a career politician (in fact he has never held political office). He's known as a ‘pizza guy’, but there's a lot more to him. He's also a computer guy, a banker guy, and a rocket scientist guy.
Here's his bio:

* Bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
* Master's degree in Computer Science.
* Mathematician for the Navy, where he worked on missile ballistics
(making him a rocket scientist).
* Computer systems analyst for Coca-Cola.
* VP of Corporate Data Systems and Services for Pillsbury (this is the
top of the ladder in the computer world, being in charge of information
systems for a major corporation).

All achieved before reaching the age of 35. Since he reached the top of the
information systems world, he changed careers!

* Business Manager. Took charge of Pillsbury's 400 Burger King
restaurants in the Philadelphia area, which were the company's poorest
performers in the country. Spent the first nine months learning the business
from the ground up, cooking hamburger and yes, cleaning toilets. After three
years he had turned them into the company's best performers.
* Godfather's Pizza CEO. Was asked by Pillsbury to take charge of
their Godfather's Pizza chain (which was on the verge of bankruptcy). He
made it profitable in 14 months.
* In 1988 he led a buyout of the Godfather's Pizza chain from
Pillsbury. He was now the owner of a restaurant chain. Again he reached the
top of the ladder of another industry.
* He was also chairman of the National Restaurant Association during
this time. This is a group that interacts with government on behalf of the
restaurant industry, and it gave him political experience from the
non-politician side.

Having reached the top of a second industry, he changed careers again!

* Adviser to the Federal Reserve System. Herman Cain went to work for
the Federal Reserve Banking System advising them on how monetary policy
changes would affect American businesses.
* Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. He worked his way
up to the chairmanship of a regional Federal Reserve bank. This is only one
step below the chairmanship of the entire Federal Reserve System (the top
banking position in the country). This position allowed him to see how
monetary policy is made from the inside, and understand the political forces
that impact the monetary system.

After reaching the top of the banking industry, he changed careers for a
fourth time!

* Writer and public speaker. He then started to write and speak on
leadership. His books include Speak as a Leader, CEO of Self, Leadership is
Common Sense, and They Think You're Stupid.
* Radio Host. Around 2007-after a remarkable 40 year career-he started
hosting a radio show on WSB in Atlanta (the largest talk radio station in
the country).

He did all this starting from rock bottom (his father was a chauffeur and
his mother was a maid). When you add up his accomplishments in his
life-including reaching the top of three unrelated industries: information
systems, business management, and banking-Herman Cain may have the most
impressive resume of anyone that has run for the presidency in the last half
century.

He has also escaped from the Democratic plantation and is an inspiration for all America not just Americans of color.

Ok, all you “big hearted” libs, this is what our guy has done. What has yours done?

My only concern about Cain

-no I am not a concern troll, I like the man and will certainly vote for him if he’s the nominee, may even vote for him in the primary -

is that it is easy to SAY all the right things, harder to do them.

Since he hasn’t actually held public office he can be quite the idealist and promise all we want to hear. I believe they are his sincerely held positions, too. But when reality hits and you are dealing with members of your own party and members of the other party and pressure from this problem and try to make deals and communicate to the American people and compromise responsibly or not compromise at all and risk no progress at all and ETC. . .

it’s a lot tougher.

I think Romney and Perry have a more seasoned place in my mind because I know how Cain will WANT to govern - I am just not certain he will be able to govern the way he wants to.

That’s Cain’s biggest negative, for me. Romney’s biggest is Romneycare. Perry’s biggest is his “heartless” comment - I don’t mind someone disagreeing with me but I do mind being called names.

Who to support? I don’t know, and I doubt it will all fall to me anyway.
