Geez let your married girlfriend go. Would you still be fawning over Palin if she was a man?

Isn’t this the same line of thinking that gave us ‘it depends on what ‘is’ means’. No doesn’t mean no now?
Ya gotta laugh.

“No no on your lips, yes yes in your eyes” does not apply here. Time to look at the other candidates.

Herman is my dog in this fight, I picked him last week and I have also contributed to his campain. Maybe Palin for V.P. if not then how about Sarah heading up both the DOE and EPA. This will also be a tax saving to the American people.

I moved straight to anger and have been stuck there, and impossible to talk or live with, ever since, LOL!
Given my heritage and temperament people like me never move to the other stages, especially grief, unless it’s other’s grief.
Then we feed...

Nah, I think she’s going to actually be more effective getting her ‘message’ out from the outside. I wanted her to run, but the reality is that the scum in the media and the backstabbing GOP would have snuffed out her message, just like the way her ‘record’ as AK governor never got out during the 2008 election. No reason for her to make that suicide mission, where she’s be chewed up like wolf bait, within a month’s time, via 24-hour-a-day lies and smears.

Sometimes you have to make judgments about which battlefield to fight from, and although Palin has the EXACT right message for the times, and vastly more political talent than just about anyone else on the scene, it’s not the right moment, and she undoubtedly made a wise decision.

Heck, if the GOP nominee turns out to be the kind of dunderhead I’m expecting, I might very likely vote for Palin via ‘write-in’ anyway!

“What leadership role has Palin completed that’s beyond comparable to what Cain’s completed?”

Sarah Louise Palin is an American politician, commentator and author.

As the Republican Party nominee for Vice President in the 2008 presidential election, she was the first Alaskan on the national ticket of a major party and first Republican woman nominated for the vice-presidency.

She was elected to Wasilla City Council in 1992 and became mayor of Wasilla in 1996.

In 2003, after an unsuccessful run for lieutenant governor, she was appointed Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, responsible for overseeing the state’s oil and gas fields for safety and efficiency.

The youngest person and first woman to be elected Governor of Alaska, Palin held the office from December 2006 until her resignation in July 2009.

She has since endorsed and campaigned for the Tea Party movement, as well as several candidates in the 2010 midterm elections.

Her book Going Rogue has sold more than two million copies.

Since January 2010, she has provided political commentary for Fox News, and hosted a television show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Five million viewers viewed the first episode, a record for The Learning Channel.

OK, wadda ya got to top that?

Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Grief

Hard to believe that sensible but passionate FReepers are treating Palin’s decision akin to a death in the family, or a failing marriage.

While her fans may have invested some money, a lot of hope and expectation she would run for POTUS - she is not, or ever was, giving her hand in marriage.

She didn’t die and maintains her faith, her family and her Country in that order. I respect her decision and believe, as many others, that her voice will be stronger for that.

As for her critics - they also gathered some nasty attitude - which is happening to Perry, Cain and Gingrich supporters. We need to simmer down and grow up. Mea culpa;)

Hey, it’s great to convince people to run—Ross Perot! Boy, that was great. Helped to elect Clinton, but Larry King sure did a great job convincing Ross to run!

We’re doing a great job giving Democratic Underground
material. “Draft Palin”... “I know she isn’t running but I
will write her name in...”... “Madame President” (hint to
the Wizard: Before you call her that consider she would have had to announce her candidacy, campaign, win a bunch of
primaries, win nomination, beat Obama. Jumping the gun a bit aren’t we? Could it have happened? Maybe. But she didn’t declare, and in fact said no...)

Can you believe this? BTW, I want a pony.

If it weren't so pathetic it would be comical. The unhealthy infatuation with Palin continues among the most fanatical. It's some sort of twisted combination of cult like behavior and battered spouse syndrome. I begin to think Sarah could outright insult her followers and announce she was only in it for the cash all along, and her most devoted adherents would claim it was still all part of a master Sun Tzu strategy of deception and that she is still secretly running for President. I kid you not, I think the delusion is just that complete. It's very sad to see this kind of silly emotional attachment and teen age child like obsession on the conservative side.

A few of the things you posted re her “leadership”, yes - but not being an “author” and “commentator”.

Drafting the best candidate really has happened in the past. Sometimes it’s just been staged, but sometimes it has been real enough.

Dwight Eisenhower had to have his arm twisted before he agreed to run. I’m not sure if he was really better than Taft, but he was a good President on the whole, and I’m not sure that Taft could have won.

Ronald Reagan had to be drafted, too, as I recall. And Maggie Thatcher.

The best candidates have often hesitated, but finally come in when they found that they were wanted and believed it to be their duty to serve.

I’m not saying that it’s going to happen in this case. And I’m inclined to keep back at the moment and leave the drafting to others.

No, it wouldn’t be as easy as where she is now. But I think Sarah would agree to do it if it really seemed the only way to fix this mess.

I read several different kinds of attitude here. Some of the usual Palin haters, who just want her to go away. A few former fans, who are disappointed and have written her off. Those like yourself who simply want to let her make her own choice and enjoy life and family. But I think in the end that doing the right thing, even if painful, gives the greatest joy, even joy in suffering.

I’m not sure if anything like that will happen, but it’s certainly worth considering. And those who would try to draft her certainly have my best wishes. Like Palin, I also think that God and country come first—as do many who serve and defend our country in war—and that it would be wrong to decline those priorities, if need calls.
