999 is about the only thing that will save this republic.

Right now you have 51% of the country sucking the life out of the other 49%.

And if they vote, then they get to continue doing it.

9-9-9 would at least make them pay SOMETHING.

A national sales tax on top of state sales taxes is just never going to sell, IMO.

It may well be a failure if supposed conservatives can't grasp the fact that the ENTIRE tax code will be thrown out in favor of 999 plan. What part of this is so hard to understand?

Perry has his problems, but still there will be standing Romney.

Don’t patronize me. I understand his plan as well as you. I don’t like the idea of a national sales tax WITH a personal income tax. I don’t like it and most Americans aren’t going to like it either once they start looking into it. It’s a new tax that equals political suicide in our current economic environs and takes no consideration of already-existing state sales tax rates. It is also incredibly naive to assume that an incoming president is going to be able to push through Congress his own tax plan intact. This plan would arrive on the other side unrecognizable to Cain or anyone else. It’s a naive plan proposed by an inexperienced politician on a book tour and VP bid, and these are things I just cannot support at present. Flame away.

Does your candidate have a plan to eliminate the beast of a tax code we have now?

I doubt it. He’s not running for Congress.

That was juvenile.

With some states having high state sales taxes, i agree.

However, part of 999 is the assumption that the states that have high rates do something different, too.

States are easier to steer than federal governments. Each state can do what makes sense for them (economically).

Imagine that, returning to a real republic.

How does that assumption become reality? What is going to make the sates lower their sales tax rates?

Competition among states. They do it all the time. States would see businesses and families leaving if their tax rate was too high. You would have a choice. Right now we have none.

Allow competition to work at the “gubmint” level.

Those same choices exist now without a sales tax. I dont see how adding a national sales tax is going to get a state like Il to lower theirs.

I just dont like a plan that forces you to rely on the hope that other entities will help you out.

Cain threads are digressing to the level of the Palin threads.

We have a lot to examine in all our candidates and Romney is out of FR even though Cain supports him.

Hell, Texas thrived under Ma Richards.

I worked for the State of Texas' mental health services under Ann Richards. She was a trainwreck.

She gutted MHMR in TX. Patients were dumped into the streets, facilities closed. Two of her "friends" she put in charge..oh, one charged a jaguar on his state credit card, and another one charged 35,000 dollar emerald cufflinks.

She was a grifter, and I don't give a da-- what any cutesy one woman plays, or folksy cr** gets floated about her.

She brought in unwanted, and unneeded regulatory agencies, was anti second amendment..

I doubt you were living in TX under Ann Richard's rein of incompetency. I can thank her for this. She was the last Democrat I ever voted for..

Why is Bloomberg and the Washington Post sponsering the REPUBLICAN debates.

Are Republicans stupid?

Why would they participate in their enemy’s territories.

This is insane!
