Posted on 10/10/2011 2:55:26 PM PDT by The_Obama_Gerbil

Every working American has lost a fortune since King O'Bozo took office and put an end to small business! Tell us your story. What do you do for a living, and if you lost your job and/or still working for less hours/wages, how much would you say you have lost in the last three years? I would imagine some of you may have lost upwards to a million.

The gutting of NASA killed the contract $ for what I was working on, so I just retired a bit early. Now sucking off of SS. Could have kept working for a few more years, saving yet more in the 401k, but I got nervous about what the liberals might have in mind, so I bailed out while I could.

My IRA lost about 20% before I put it all in cash during the last part of the Bush adm......House has lost about 40% of its value. No mortgage on it, but for selling its a big loss...Don't tell me that cash is also a loss of income...I know that, but not as big a loss as the Stock market was...wish I had sold when Dow was at 14000, sold everything at 12000.But the cd's are giving me at least 4% until they mature, then the % will be way down...

Not complaining, many are in far worse situations..I have no mortgage or car payment or kids to put through school..

There’s been no COLA in two years because there was no inflation. One is “expected” for 2012.

Hmmm. Not including my home, a hundred thousand is a little over the top.

Zero has only cost me about forty thousand, if you count that we couldn’t find a cheap used car like we usually would have gotten for our latest vehicle. (We went to the used car lot of the new car dealer we’ve always bought from before, and he had -what - seven cars in our range? Thanks, Cash for Clunkers.)

Of course, including my house...

Who are you?

Worth asking since the thread-starting poster has been here less than a month.

My household is in the oil field, law and Austin real estate.

Law is always good, real estate is slightly up, but price of oil has fallen over the last couple months.

That’s a bit scary.

I live in Naples,Fla. where most of us here rely on the 7 winter months to make about 80% of our income. I remember when there was a time here where I was working year round. I will admit, I am scared, I am in hospitality, I love the work, but wish it was more year round.

Haven’t lost any income, but I drive a lot for my job, so have spent a lot more for gasoline. Investments and home values way down. Health insurance cost is up, up, up.

Worth asking since the thread-starting poster has been here less than a month.

Also worth asking because currently the leftie loonies are looking for “millionaires” to harass.

Occupy Wall Street thugs plan "Millionaires March" to the homes of the 1%

As the OP said, tell "us" your story.

As Herman Cain said “ if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.”

So, you are in hospitality and your family has lost 5 million bucks?

I really don’t care to share but I’ve gotta say -— the mental image of your “handle” makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Yucch!

Lost my job, but haven’t taken too much of a hit on the stock market. Husband had to go back to work, but he lost a bit in his portfolio.

when I mentioned my family of 7, I was referring to mom/dad and the other siblings. One brother lost at least 3 million in sales (he sells custom crafted/high end furniture in New Jersey)but since Zero took office, his business dropped about 95%!) we all knew this was gonna happen when Obama won,He has robbed most Americans of four years of their lives, look at it like Obama flushing four of your years down the toilet.

I moved to Texas in 2007. My income is up just over 50% since then.

You’ll not find me badmouthing the business climate in Texas.

It would be even better for everyone if we could drill here and drill now!

My income losses actually began at the point when the Democrats took control of Congress during Bush’s last term. My business was rocked so hard, that my family wound up living on the poverty line for the next few years.

It’s only recently that my wife and I have managed to claw our way back to something resembling a steady income. No thanks to Zero, I might add. We probably would have done it in less than half the time, had he not been elected.
