Now, if they had their druthers at the White House, I think they would prefer to run against Perry. As cockeyed as they are, they think that Perry would present them a bigger problem than Romney. They think Romney is beatable. And they think Romney's beatable because Romney's not conservative. They think Romney's beatable because of Romneycare, frankly. In fact, they think it's gonna be a slam-dunk over Romney. They think they have the ammunition to totally deflate and dispirit Republican voters and keep 'em home, and it's with stories like this. "Romney Advisers Helped the White House Draft Health Care Reform" leaked to Michael Isikoff at NBC News, which shows up on the Atlantic Wire.

For every conservative who wants to defeat Obama, their first goal clearly is to beat Romney and the republican establishment.
And the first SOB that tells me "Then We'll Get Obama" had better remember we haven't even picked a GOP nominee, yet. It is way too damned early to be pulling the Juan McCain Plaint again. Way to damned early!
You people give up when you accede to the potential case that you would vote for Romney under certain circumstances.
Yeah, if we don’t beat Romney we’re looking at a Romney/Christie ticket vs. Obama/Hillary? ticket. Pukin’ my guts out!
This is what I believe too. If Romney is the nominee it will be McCain all over again. Frankly, the Republican Party (RINO) establishment behaves like an arm of the Democrat Party.
Romney is the new McCain, the new Dole, the new George Herbert Walker Bush, the new Ford.
AND ONLY ROMNEY CAN WIN!!! DON’T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND???
Obama thinks Romney would disenchant the base and effect conservative turnout. That’s exactly why he’s pushing him. Besides, why vote for Obama lite when you can vote for the real thing.
We better make damned sure that we keep the House and take the Senate.
I’m with you on this one all the way........
I am from Massachusetts and I would not ever, ever ever, vote for Romney! Did I say ever?
I do hope he is not anyone’s pick here on Free Republic.... He is not conservative people - remember, he was only the closest we could get to a Republican voted in here. Take a look at Scott Brown - again as close as we could get. Don’t believe he is anything other than a RINO - serious!
Romneycare .... Yeah, we’ll also be stuck with Obamacare with this dufus as President! Just look at him UGH!
I want Cain
They can think I’ll relent and vote for that buttwipe like I finally did for McCain because of Sarah, but I’ll be g’dam if I’ll do it again. Might as well try to hold me down and give it a good bugger....not gonna do it, under ANY circumstance, period.
As Maxwell Smart would say, “Its the old I’ll-show-you-my-health-care-if-you’ll-show -me-yours”
People are so sick of Mitt that conservatives will bolt the party and go for an independent like Trump—By splitting the GOP the Dems win a second term for Obama. Be ready for it—that’s why we must get Tea Party People in Congress & the Senate. IF Obama gets in he must be de-clawed and neutered. Who knows? Maybe the Independent will win?
It’s not happening this year - and they know it. Mitt will win only if the liberals vote for him. Sarah needs to run as an independent - that will go around the GOP stronghold and WeThePeople and America wins.
The WH wants Romney because they know there are those of us who will not vote for him no matter what.
Ok, I’m going to make this simple. Here is the list of people that Obama can beat:
2. Mao Tse Tung
3. “Papa” Doc Duvalier
4. Josef Stalin
6. Kim il Jung
7. Karl Marx
8. Jimmuh Carter
9. Saddam Hussein
Pretty much everyone else, living or dead, are probably in contention!
Way to go GOP. We have a liberal we can vote for or a populist with no public experience or a self imploding Texan.
IF Romney is the nominee (which I doubt), I fear a conservative 3rd party.
