“...Cain’s 9-9-9 idea is an economic apocalypse for he private sector. He’s advocating a whole new level and class (wealth tax) of taxation without getting rid of the previous system. “

I find it interesting that the former Fed director has this great idea of taxes us MORE. And is running for Pres, and against the Marxist running for the Dems. And without mention of getting rid of the current IRS system.

I don’t think that it is all just a coincidence.
The government and the FED need more taxes to keep their pathetic system going. What better way than to dupe the Repubs into MORE taxes?

“He then doubled down, calling on former Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank to be thrown in jail,”.....

And the problem is????...These two a-holes were the masterminds of forcing banks to make disastrous loans that never should have been made thus crashing the housing market! Great job Barney!

The government and the FED need more taxes to keep their pathetic system going.

The US bureaucrats look with longing on the European model and salivate over the prospect of inflicting the same system on us. Currently Most European countries' governments plunder between 40 and 48% of their respective GDPs primarily because they have BOTH an income tax and a national sales tax.

The USA "only" loots about 19% of the GDP because an income tax allows avoidance strategies - deferring income etc. A sales tax is essentially unavoidable. Your money does no good until you spend it, and then when you spend it you get taxes. A national sales tax also gives the double whamnmy to anyone with savings (wealth), because if you have savings, you were taxed on those savings, and now they're going to want to tax you again when you spend he savings. It's an economic nightmare for the working class who make up the private sector and a wet dream for the looting class that makes up government.

We should all thank God for ethanol in our gas.

I remember the days when the Los Angeles basin was a visibly dirty, filthy air smog pit.

Then let the residents of the Los Angeles basin PAY for the ethanol. 90% of the rest of the USA doesn't need "specialty" gas to have clean air and water. Why should all of America be saddled with the extra expenses of some people who choose to live in areas susceptible to smog.

Government issuing one size fits all regulations creates more problems that will be addressed by more regulations which creates more problems . . . .

“Ethanol as a fuel reduces harmful tailpipe emissions of carbon monoxide, particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and other ozone-forming pollutants.”

Ethanol (E10) reduces gas mileage, dissolves seals, burns hotter so damages pistons and valves, and attracts moisture so increases rust in engines. Not to mention that it takes more energy to manufacture 1 gallon of ethanol than it takes to manufacture 1 gallon of gasoline, and it is removing a food staple from the market, increasing its cost (the food staple, that is).

Frankly, it is not ready for prime time, and we taxpayers should not be subsidizing any private industry, not to mention ones that cannot succeed without massive influxes of taxpayer’s dollars.

“You won’t believe” the truth about the financial crisis if all you watch and read are the MSM.

“Ethanol as a fuel reduces harmful tailpipe emissions of carbon monoxide, particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and other ozone-forming pollutants.”

That may be true but it reduces fuel efficiency of cars and light trucks, increases air pollution in the areas where it is distilled, due to its corrosive properties it can not be moved in existing pipe lines so must be shipped by tank car or tank truck, its corrosive properties also make it damaging to older automobiles produced prior to ethanol’s appearance in auto fuels, it takes more energy to produce than it provides by burning, during warm months its high volatility makes in a major contributor to air pollution (ozone as a matter of fact). And as a topper it increases the cost of food on the whole.

If California needs it for smog reduction fine California can mandate it as an additive for California only. The air in most of the rest of the country was just as good before ethanol. Even the enviro-wakos have said that ethanol is a bust for the environment.

I see no reason that the rest of the country must suffer along with California.

By the way don’t take what you read in Wikipedia as gospel especially if there is any political take on the subject what so ever. Anybody who wants to can edit the info.

I think most of the rural US is running on non-ethanol gas. My personal mileage is much better when I’m out on the road ... far removed from a city.

Yep. That sums it up.

When the left goes on and on about how we should be more like Europe, they don’t mention how UNfree they are, how almost FEUDAL they are. How UNconstitutional they are.

This nation does not need MORE taxes at this time.
And this issue is troubling. It is getting more so as time goes forward.
I was liking Cain, but I don’t have any idea who I would really want to run for the Republicans.

...."government somehow decided that the Enron scandal was perfect for the government."....

It was the Dems, not the gubmint that decided Enron was perfect. Ken Lay was somehow acquainted with Bush, ergo the perfect foil. Anyone that ever even said Merry Christmas to Bush is suspect in a Bush derangement world.

In a Dem world, Frank Rich is just a misunderstood patriot, the Muslim Brotherhood will bring about Arab Spring, and the Occupy Wall Street mob is brilliant citizenship albeit with loose bowels around police cars..

I think I didn’t explain my point well, though your take on it is valid.

The government is using the same accounting baloney with the banks. The country has had its books, enronized, to hide the insolvency. They took the same book hiding double dealing accounting lies, and are implementing them IN our government and the banks.

It didn’t mean in a political sense, but I can see where that does apply as well.

No they don’t. We had bubbles for centuries before we had a Central Bank.

So, keeping interest rates down for too long with Mr Bubbles Greenspan, had NOTHING to do with the housing bubble?

Because it did contribute, and add to the flames.

Rush talking about the same thing now. He says you could see on Charlie Rose’s face that he was utterly baffled that someone would blame Dodd and Frank for the financial crisis.

“Kind of sad that every four years we end up discussing which Republican candidate has the fewest negatives rather than the most positives.”

I know. I’d thought that, after the 2008 debacle, we’d learned our lesson as a party. As it turns out, the gop establishment is way too eager to tear down a real conservative. That’s why, every day, I become more and more convinced that a third party will become inevitable. I, for one, will be ecstatic to break completely away from the *republican* party.

Have you seen that movie with Nicole Kidman, The Others?

There is going to be a remake of that movie, called The Other’s, with an apostrophe.

Just as I thought.

A FED rent boy to the rescue!

You haven’t answered my question.

And you have an agenda to move the focus away from that question.

I have seen this kind of “got’cha” before.

Go play with your rent boys.
