BOULDER, Colo. -- Mountain lion encounters in Colorado aren’t exactly rare, but they don’t usually produce such great photo opportunities.

Gail Loveman, who lives in Boulder’s Pine Brook Hill neighborhood, snapped a handful of photos of a standoff involving a mountain lion and her Maine cook [sic] cat, Zeus.

It happened last Thursday evening when the cougar walked up her porch and peeked through a sliding glass door.

I used to have a Maine Cook cat. Got tired of him yelling “bam!” every time he prepared a dish.

LOL!

Man, those Cougars are beautiful, their bodies have great lines. Unfortunately, they would eat you if there wasn’t a barrier there.

We’ve got an Abyssinian that looks almost exactly like that Cougar.

I would, then again I’m not a cat fan haha. Although I also would of made some nice wall mounts from those cougars if they were on my property, no way I’d leave them around to feast on my kids.

I've seen a few that were 25 lbs of lean weight.

We had a fairly normal sized but a little bigger cat mate with a cat we found in a swamp with a torn out under arm that was a nice sized but not big. Kept them separate but somehow they mated. They had kittens that were 30 pounds of lean weight when grown. One of them grew so fast and big that it got really sick, the vet thought because it's body just wasn't keeping up with it's huge and rapid growth. The family that took her thought she was going to die but somehow once she was grown she came out of it. Something unusual happened with the mix of two fairly normal sized cats. The whole batch sure were beautiful.

The bottom picture is so gorgeous. Someday, after The LORD comes back, we will be able to walk up to them and pet them. That picture sure makes you want to be able to do that!

Even with a substantial fence, that family is still not safe!

Saw a picture of your dog on your page. Hope your whole family including him stay safe.

My vet in California when we first got my Rocket (who is a Maine Coon, but a runt at his pre-CRF weight of 18 lbs.) had a Maine Coon, "Tucker," who weighed 28 lbs. He and my Rocket looked like brothers, but my Rocket was the "kitten" next to Tucker. They were/are both black and white with similar patterns.

My poor vet accidentally killed Tucker when he needed surgery but was violently allergic to the anesthesia drugs. My vet was heartbroken for a very long time.

If ever there was a vet who loved cats, it was that gentleman. He fell in love with Muffin, our second cat, and he came to our house to do the deed when The Muff had to be killed. He cried with us.

I wish he'd move to Ohio.

Thanks so much Bell ... We’re relatively safe from cougars here in Connecticut [excepting the unusual stray from South Dakota LOL ... lions here have been declared *extinct*] ...our biggest worry is dying from a thousand paper cuts from the liberal regimes that proliferate the Northeast.

Yep. Where there’s one...there’s more! Guess it’s the price you pay for living in God’s country. They are magnificent critters...which explains my fascination with them....thankfully from afar. :)
