BOULDER, Colo. -- Mountain lion encounters in Colorado arent exactly rare, but they dont usually produce such great photo opportunities.
Gail Loveman, who lives in Boulders Pine Brook Hill neighborhood, snapped a handful of photos of a standoff involving a mountain lion and her Maine cook [sic] cat, Zeus.
It happened last Thursday evening when the cougar walked up her porch and peeked through a sliding glass door.

we had a cat that looked just like that when I was growing up and you did not want to mess with it. It used to chew cigarettes.

Cool. The cat is so bored with him. HAHA. We have a cat that is tiny and often jumps at the french door at night in the bedroom waking us up. She once was attacking (not really) 4-5 raccoons standing there watching her pounce against the glass. Our cat girl is a real killer :-D. Cool mountain lion pictures though. He or she loves the statue and is actually getting much more enjoyment of it then the cat. He can’t touch the cat.

Well,,,, my old girl, Hu, weighs only 7 pounds. The much younger girl, Mao, weighs in at 14 pounds. Moa should kick Hu’s butt in a fraction of a second. But that’s not how it works with felines. Attitude and a dominant behavior trumps size. I’ll wake up and find clumps of Mao’s hair on the floor, and know that she challenged, and lost. Still,,,, if this Coon Cat was out on the porch,,,, it probably would have ended up as lunch.. Don’t know fur shure though.
To: khnyny
Maine Coons aren't slouches either. I've seen a few that were 25 lbs of lean weight. In fact, the largest cat in the world is a Maine Coon and is about the size of a golden retriever.

I thank God for these beautiful gifts, and I thank Him for giving me the brains to keep from becoming mountain lion dinner.
Great photos and the cats are so magnificent, big and little.
I have a Maine Coon, Hannah Leigh (big and beautiful) and she is so gentle. She would want to play with big kitty and become a snack.

It really was close to lunch and I’m thankful Maine Coon is alive and well.
I just love my Hannah. Very spoiled and cuddly. I have to sit down to hold her she’s so big. I told my oldest son she looks like a raccoon when she lays on her back, so I rolled her over to play roadkill (she lays on her back with her paws extended above her head) and he said she looks exactly like a coon.
She’s my sweetie.

My second-cousin is a game warden in Wyoming. A few years ago, when my dad and I were out visiting family, his folks showed us a photo of a mountain lion he’d killed because it was killing livestock over near Laramie. It was so big that it’s head hung off one side of his tailgate and part of the hindquarters hung off the other side.

Good photos of what appear to be juvenile mountain lions. Curious, aren’t they. The older ones tend to be more cautious and are seldom seen. They’ve been seen a few times stalking around livestock at night in my area. I’ve only seen sign (tracks, dung) a few times and a couple—each on different nights—in the headlights.
