Funny 17 second humor bit on the back and forth between Romney and Perry. :)
I don’t know about Perry and Romney but I know 0bama hires them
to vote for him.
So what’s the difference?
he should keep his day job
In all this, not ONE illegal has got, or is soon to get, a clear and uniform signal from America about how ‘undocumented’s’ will be dealt with when apprehended. Not ONE!!!!
To the contrary, illegal’s are more or less encouraged to come here and evade applicable laws.
In my wildest dream... I wouldn't dare going to another country and casting myself (and my family) on the beneficence of a system and a government not my OWN, which I refuse to support or pay taxes to, and whose laws I openly and routinely disrespect and defy!!!
Show me where I can DO THAT and I'll pack tomorrow!!!
The US economy on the brink, moral decay in our society and this is what they think is imortant? If these debates show us anything they show that the crew we have to choose from is pathetic at best. What a sorry bunch...
Who “won” the thing overall? I couldn’t watch. other commitments.
Did Rick Perry do better of just dig a deeper hole?
At least if Romney hired an illegal from Texas, he’d be hiring a well educated illegal...
“Did Rick Perry do better of just dig a deeper hole?”
Well, he had a pulse...
Honestly, he did take some good swings at Romney.
“Honestly, he did take some good swings at Romney.”
Honestly, I thought he was going to take a good swing at Romeny for real. At one point he looked like he would happily knock Mittens off his feet.
I was captivated.
Are we supposed to give Perry credit because Romney hired a small fraction of the illegals that Rick and his tax-funded freebies lured over from south of the border?
Or are we just supposed to shrug our shoulders and say hiring illegals is just as bad as bringing them in?
Isn't that like saying the John is just as bad as the pimp?
I do employment law. The fact is that if an illegal presents and I.D. and SSN, all the employer can do is send the stuff off to Washington for verification, and then put the person to work. It sometimes takes up to 6 months for D.C. to let the employer know the person is illegal. They then fire that person, who then takes the same I.D. and SSN to another employer, and some other illegal with a new I.D. and SSN shows up, and starts the process over.
In such a situation, a person who hires a contractor who employs such people really doesn't have much control over this, because of the lag time to confirm that someone is actually illegal.
That being said, Mitt was deservedly crushed on RomneyCare.
I've always felt it strange how government can take six months (or longer) to figure out if an illegal alien is using a fake ID and/or SSN.
Yet if you or I go in to buy a gun or renew a driver's licence, it takes them 10 minutes tops to see if we have an unpaid traffic citation or other trivia on our record.
I am no Romney fan, but Perry’s attack was just plain dumb. Romney hired a company to do work on his house, and the company hired some illegal aliens.
So, if I hire a company to put a new roof on my house, I’m supposed to verify each person working for that company is in the country legally?
Romney missed a great comeback line that would have killed Perry.
“Nice cowboy boots Rick, you do know the company that made those boots has illegal aliens working for it, don’t you?”
What’s Perry going to say “These boots were made in Texas, I’m sure they don’t have a single illegal alien working for them”?
True, although to make the analogy accurate, would the gun check/license system catch someone using a false I.D.? Generally, no. It's the use of fake I.D.'s that really gums up the work in immigration stuff, though e-verify reduces that problem substantially.
Just for fun, I once "accidentally" mixed up a couple of digits in my social security number when applying for some necessary government permission. It took them less than 10 minutes to come up with a mismatch. Try it sometime and see for yourself.
“I am no Romney fan, but Perrys attack was just plain dumb. Romney hired a company to do work on his house, and the company hired some illegal aliens.”
The point that Perry did land was that Romney was informed. A year later, it was found that he hadn’t done a darn thing about it.
Had Romney been informed and fixed the situation, all would be forgiven. But the fact that he carried on with the illegal labor for a year, says something about his hypocrisy.
It’s not necessarily a missmatch. It’s that you’re using a number that someone else is using. It can take a while to catch that because you’ve got to check with the other person to find out if they’ve changed employers, etc.
lame opinion video featuring neither romney or Perry nor adding to the discourse. I want my 17 seconds back
Reportedly, there is this thing called E-verify, which can decline a new hire as quickly as American Express can decline a fraudulent charge. But, of course, E-verify is both politically incorrect and damned inconvenient, so never mind.
