When I was in grammar school I never heard of anyone having lice. I don't recall anyone having lice when I was in school (1940s). However, my mother said it was quite common when she was in school (1920s). If a problem seems to go away,people think they no longer have to take precautions against it. So it comes back.

Same here, I always use a paper towel to open the door when I leave a public restroom. It makes it easy if there is a trash can by the door.

One question I alway have when I see stories like this is: does failing to properly wash hands after urinating present a danger of spreading disease, or only after #2? And, is it different for men and women?
