Long Time Conservative Patriot Mike Moreland Passes
Long time conservative patriot, Boone County Magistrate and constitutional conservative Mike Moreland of Union Kentucky died today. Mike is survived by his wife a son and grandchildren.
Moreland, pictured here with Rand Paul and Lloyd Rogers, was known for his staunch defense of civil liberties long before the TEA party movement became popular. Moreland was a reliable republican supporter and campaign volunteer in addition to the service he rendered to his community in elected office. He is the only elected official on the Boone County website who listed his cell phone number as available "day or night".

I was shocked to learn of the sudden passing tonight of "the irate magistrate" (his screen name on FR) at his home. Mike had been a member here on Free Republic since 1998. He helped me organize the very first FReep events in Kentucky. He was a long-serving magistrate in Northern Kentucky and the former Kentucky Coordinator for the RLC (Republican Liberty Caucus). He will be sadly missed. God Bless and Rest In Peace, Mike.

Oh...I am so saddened by this. I have supp'ed with him, been to his home and had many a great conversation with him over the years.
On one of my rips to the March for Liberty in 1999 he let me stay at his home and took me to a meeting in Kentucky...and drove me all around down there meeting people.
God rest your soul, Mike, and my God comfort and be with his loved ones, family, friends.
Mike will be missed. I considered him a brother in arms and a friend.

He was a good friend and patriot. I will miss him.
