Re-thinking Palin's decision not to run for POTUS

Posted on 10/21/2011 9:40:59 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

I was very upset when Palin decided not to run and I still wish she would have. However, as times goes on, I have no idea that she would kick butt in Iowa, SC and other primaries. I believe she would have won the nomination. If the party then united behind her, she could have won 270 electoral votes. But here is the problem...I think Palin had doubts that certain portions of the party would unite behind her even if she had won the nomination. She knew they were hostile. I don't know if this is the exact reason she decided not to run...but it had to be a factor.

It's true. It is wrong. It is very sad. But I am convinced that Priebus and MOST of the boys at the RNC would have prefered an Obama 2nd term over a Palin presidency. The only reason I can think of is that they believed their own power and control would be gone if Palin were elected.

I was a bit harsh and upset at first..but after thinking about it more.. I think she can do a lot to change the party over the next 5-10 years by traveling to all 50 states and backing fiscal conservatives at the local state and national level.

As for our party...we can't throw the election. but we damn well better make sure that when this next election is over, we do some serious house cleaning in all levels of government. And we need to make sure that the RNC is changed from the inside or scrap it and start from scratch. This is going to take some time , but the more we overrun them when we send real conservatives to D.C. in elections, the more the walls will close in on them. We can win the election with real conservatives in the house and the senate, even if we end up with a President that is more like Richard Nixon than Ronald Reagan. (Perry, or Newt..ect)

don't forget. when we take the senate with real conservatives. The President of the United States will have them breathing down his back on issue of spending and reform.

lets be happy warriors in this election. we can beat the establishment and the Dems at the same time

O'Donnell was destroyed by the GOP.

Angle was a poor candidate and I say that after donating to her.

The NYC Bob Turner win was just a Dan Rostenkowski knee jerk reaction by the dems, and the result will be the same come the next election, he will lose, big time.

Haven’t seen you around n a while. You have stated with real clarity how much more of a factor that Mrs. Palin can be in returning this country to it’s conservative roots.

I think that Palin knew or realized that the GOP threw her under the bus in 2008, either because they viewed her potential as VP to really upset the apple cart under McCain and start swinging the axe, or because mittens didn’t get the nomination, which pissed off the country club faction of the GOP to no end. This time, 2012 is no different. The DNC/RNC along with the MSM and the usual suspects, have all but concluded that mittens will be nominated, and judging by all of the hit pieces and negative articles coming out about Cain and Perry, they’re trying their hardest to make it happen. I think Palin realized that she doesn’t have a friend in the GOP, that the conservatives are too factioned and splintered, and that outside of a third party, she had no chance of getting elected.

I too have been upset by Sarah’s decision, but I know even if she won, she would have had a hard time accomplishing anything without the backing of those in the House and Senate. The good old boys network needs to be destroyed and the way to do it is like Sarah said, work on the House and Senate. That being said, I see a problem for Sarah in that none of the presidential candidates are worth endorsing and how does she get around THAT? She could not endorse anyone in the primary, but what about the general election? If she endorses one of the candidates and they lose, will it cost her political capital?

Another Freeper said it better on a post after her announcement "If Sarah Palin not running means the end of our nation, chances are it's already too late..."

I respect her decision. If she's not in it 100% I wouldn't want her to run, one has to want the office bad enough to endure the media crucifixion. After what she went through, who can blame her. Years of liberal psycho attacks would be enough for any one of us. I wish her health, happiness and peace.

Cheers!

You are very astute about the GOP Establishment. They are dead set on having a RINO Beltway Buddy in office and would have been brutal on Sarah.

Here is an inside story from Florida. Lt. Col. Allen West ran for Congress in 2004 against Ron Klein(D), a lifelong incumbent who shmoozed the condos every year for his perpetual seat. Col. West ran on a total grassroots effort. He had NO support from the Republican party of FL, who ignored him completely. Nevertheless, he got 47% of the popular vote! Of course, the next time in 2008, the RPOF supported him, and he is our new Congressman!

We are seeing this on a National level with Sarah, Michelle Bachman, and Herman Cain. The Establishment, it seems, would rather have an evil Marxist dictator, than a Tea Party Favorite. The 2010 election has frighten them almost as much as it did the democrats.

The elitist & Rino’s in the GOP Party, like Rove...would never allowed Palin to become President. They are too afraid of what she will find out as President, all the behind the scene deals, workings, etc and expose it. Like she did in Alaska.

Sorry I missed it. If she is improving, they don’t want to publicize it.

I watch mainly FOX and they are shilling for Romney now that Christie isn’t running.

She is one great, hot looking intelligent lady. I wish her luck.

McCain threw the election and Sarah busted her ass for that man only to get screwed over in the end, its those kinds in the GOP that would have made things VERY difficult for her. She saw that and knew she could do better without having to run. She will run for President one day, she is young, she has her whole life ahead of her

Amen! For a long time I have been suspicious that McCain was not the stellar patriot while a POW that the media have portrayed. I have wondered if the Communists had something they were holding over his head. He has done more for the Democrats as a Republican than anyone else I know.

“Watch what the GOP insider do to Cain. They will sabatoge his run. I have ZERO doubt about that.”

You are right and it out people who claim to be conservative and are really Establishment hacks,,,including Coulter.

But the facts are that it is set up for conservatives to win this time...but it will take conservatives to do that, by putting away their personal ambition and uniting behind one conservative...primarily santorum and bachmann, and to a lesser degree because he is going up in the polls, Gingrich. Even at some point...if Perry doesn’t rebound...

If we Conservatives lose this election, it will be due to conservatives...not the Establishment.

Just add up all the conservative polling percentages versus Romney’s....that points to a big conservative win.

You misread the adjective used. It wasn’t “insane” but “inane”.

Inane:

1. lacking sense, significance, or ideas; silly: inane questions.
2. empty; void.
