This is as plain and concise as this has ever been stated. Please watch this video from the 10/26/11 show.
It should have been called the “anti-Terrorism” act. Bush and team were horrible at using the media and in naming stuff. Patriotism got all the left wanting to oppose it, but who could oppose “anti-Terrorism”?
The “Department of Homeland Security” sounded like “Deutschland” or “the Father Land”. Both equally casting the image of Hitler’s Germany or Stalins Russia.
Sigh...such bad legislation all around. Ending the Jamie Gorelick wall was simply not worth all the other baggage the “Patriot” act brought about.
“Motherland” is usually the most popular phrase for nationalistic entities (although not always extreme).
