Are they still having problems getting their act together for this race?

Stuff...

Jenson Button and Mark Webber will this weekend lead the tributes to Dan Wheldon after the recent tragic death of their close friend. The pair have had helmet stickers made bearing Wheldon's logo, his initials in red, white and black, while Button revealed he will wear a black armband in Sunday's inaugural Indian Grand Prix.

"I sent Jenson a text after the race in Korea and I told him I wanted to get some stickers made up for our helmets," said Webber. "I asked him if he was keen and he said he was. It's a nice little sticker because we both knew him. It's only natural he is part of us a little this weekend."

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton will have manager Simon Fuller by his side for only the second time this season in India. Hamilton's father Anthony, who managed Lewis until March 2010, has criticised his son's new team for failing to attend races.

McLaren will introduce a new front wing at the Indian Grand Prix, but technical director Paddy Lowe admits that the Woking-based team are "winding to a close with what we'll bring in terms of updates this year".

Triple world champion Sir Jackie Stewart has criticised Lewis Hamilton's overtaking style, saying that "even a blind man" would not have attempted one of his overtaking manoeuvres on Felipe Massa in the 2010 Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari's chief designer Nikolas Tombazis concedes that his team will have to consider duplicating the innovations that have helped Red Bull sweep to the constructors' title three races before the end of the season. "You can't ignore your competitors: if Red Bull wins, you can't say 'I'll just mind my own business'," he said.

The press pack have encountered several problems on their arrival at the media centre at the Indian Grand Prix. Press Association journalist Ian Parkes freed a trapped bat, while BBC presenter Jake Humphrey is concerned by two power cuts.

The Buddh International Circuit will feature two separate DRS zones.

President of the Indian Motor Sports Federation Vicky Chandhok believes this weekend's Indian Grand Prix represents better value for the country than the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. "I don't really see the purpose of the Commonwealth Games, with the viewership so low," he said. "The amount of money that was spent on putting up facilities that are not going to be looked after is something this country could ill afford. That was taxpayers' money, but this is private enterprise and it will be looked after."
(Press Association)

Red Bull will take to the streets of the team's hometown of Milton Keynes on 10 December to celebrate winning the drivers' and constructors' titles. The event includes a demonstration of one of the team's F1 cars.

The Russian government will spend US$194.4m (£122.1m) to build the circuit for the country's first Grand Prix in Sochi in 2014.

My son said something about an Indian government shakedown that might have kept it from being televised.

This will be an interesting race. The track, from what I’ve seen on TV here, looks to be in good shape, and the layout is nice. What makes it more interesting is that, with the Championship sewed up, and I think the Constructor championship too, this might be an interesting venue for the teams to try some new innovations or strategies. There wouldn’t be any penalty for doing so, and the track is a good mixture of straights and technical sections that provide a nice testing ground for such things.

I don't know what the reference point is, but I will bet that if it is organized well in those countries, that means the private sector managed the event. If the organization was botched up, the government controlled it.

We should not be smug about our governments not botching up the organization of events because our governments swallow huge amounts of money compared to the Asians while organizing events. That too is one form of botching up.

For a while I wondered about Hamilton’s new helmet design (Bob Marley) and why the cameras kept focusing on it.

Heh. No woman no cry.

Ouch, that’s harsh! Actually, thinking back to when I was his age, I can see how he could be cut up over some trollop he’s been bedding.

But that’s today’s F1 - a bunch of whippersnappers with no real life experience.

Yeah, looks like it. I don’t follow the tabloid mush, but I take a look at the Daily Mail page, and Nicole something-or-other just dumped him.

Hence, I guess, all the allusions to him ‘going through a rough time’ etc. And, of course, the helmet design.
