That’s because in a lot of Asian cultures white is the color of death and is only used at funerals.

The lady center/front looks resplendent. Always nice to see women dress with dignity and taste.

Hideous!
They do not look like brides.
They looked like Christmas gifts wrapped by the color blind.

...which probably explains how it came to be used at weddings...

LOL, you have a point. I was surprised to see they are emulating Michelle with the ugly belts. She doesn’t have any boobs either.

I don’t know about the dresses but the one third from the right and in the center is NOT guilty.

The red bow or the blue bow? Dress second from right with the blue boob belt looks like something you’d see in Vegas. She’s just missing the headdress.

“white is the color of death in Asian societies.”
I understand.
They are still too gaudy and flashy.
I’ll go to the link and look at some more.

Egads, Christmas bows!

There’s a saying about the bride should wear the gown, not the other way around. Apparently this designer doesn’t understand that concept.

I made a trip to Tokyo in 1987, and while shopping the Ginza we saw a bright red lace wedding dress. It was complete with red lace veil and accessories.

At one time in the 1800’s, black was the norm for wedding dresses in America. As women then saw marriage as a life of hardship. I have pictures of some of my ancestors in the black dresses.

Well one can't change the times of the past, it is what it was, and yes it would have been an oppressive life. The days when they were only property, could not vote, etc. NAH!

My hats off to all those women, as they endured the hardships of the western life as they came west. I couldn't do it.

Red is the color of revolution across the globe.

Red is the color of the Peoples Republic of China, its flag, its bloody communist past.....and in this case, its Chinese fashion designers.
