I’m a fan of the big ten conference. What I would really like to see is minnesota kicked out, and syracuse added. Then I think I would drop one of the illinois teams(the one that isn’t as good I forget which one that is) and add notre dame. I know I know...good luck getting notre dame to sign onto any conference.

Me, too, Reverend! The big (East) question is why they insist anymore on naming conferences according to number or geography? That’s instantly limiting. Why not, say, the Knute Rockne Conference, or the Liberty Conference, or some such? The Painful Groin Pull Conference? Sky’s the limit!

The Big 10 took a long time to go to 12. I think they did fine. Penn State was a indy at the time, and Nebraska left a Big 12 conference where there was a lot of dissension because of Texas wanting a special deal for its own t.v. network.

Boise State would be a football only school. Possibly it would re-join the WAC for other sports. Ditto with Air Force.

The big advantage to Boise State is joining a conference that has AQ status. Of course, the big advantage to the Big East is that Boise State would help it retain AQ status.

The rumor is that while the football program will go to the Big East Conference, the rest of the athletic program is seeing membership in the Big WEST Conference (Long Beach State, Pacific, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, etc.)

At least both are the best team in their respective states, unlike the Sooners. :)

Watching Texas Tech win on the road was cathartic.

The Big East has been kind of a stepping stone conference, hasn’t it? I wouldn’t be surprised if this continues in the future. Clearly, the flagships of our country’s state university systems are fine schools. North Carolina, Michigan, Texas, Arizona. These are great schools. And, the top privates, like Stanford and Notre Dame. Them too. But, this is America, and over time other schools will percolate up. Florida is, today, a very big state. No wonder Miami (a private) moved up, via the Big East, to the ACC. Now we have South Florida and Central Florida (publics) building fine sports programs. Let a thousand flower blossom.

Well I like Boise, all the TX teams and chaos.

So I’ll be rooting against Stanford and Okie State.

Who’s your team?

The Painful Groin Pull Conference?

Would the champion of the Painful Groin Pull Conference play in the Ci-truss Bowl?

The situation in the Big 12 is a bit in flux largely because Texas got a special deal for its own television network. Geographically, Houston and SMU to the Big 12 makes sense. However, the scuttlebutt is that Texas would object to giving Houston the appearance of parity and the Big 12 just entered the Dallas-Ft. Worth market with TCU. SMU is indicated to formally accept the offer on Friday. However, I don’t see any such report with regard to Houston.

TCU in and Nebraska out is a plus for me. I like TCU.

Why is everyone’s nose out of joint about the Longhorns network? There’s nothing stopping them from signing similar deals. Especially the Sooners.
