Here is a little Alou trivia - Felipe Alou (Matty’s brother) was the first hitter in the Fulton County Stadium (Atlanta) and his son Moises was the last!
What are the odds?
I believe Matty won two batting (average) titles. R.I.P.
Good job! I’m am old timer MLB trivia buff and I had not heard that one. Kudos. In the sixties, Matty had the stick for average, Felipe had it for power and Jesus had the glove. Moises was every bit the player as Dad and the uncles later on imho.
RIP, Matty!
I only know because I was there at the last game there. It was sad. Turner field is not the same.
When baseball was real, thanks Matty!
Harry ‘the Hat’ Walker got him to switch to a heavier bat. That guy was a hitting geniius.
RIP.
