are they really free? do they want a credit card # ? are they understandable and offer a real score?
Just an FYI, the only people who are supposed to provide your score is the credit bureaus. The car dealer or credit union or bank are not supposed to give you the actual number. They usually will if you ask nice.
Nope.
Not Moe, Shemp, or Curly, either.
I will be in trouble then! I always offer to give a copy out.
The reason we are not supposed to; is the credit bureaus charge a certain price if we say we don't. The bureaus want to sell sell more products.
I feel pretty strongly about getting a copy in peoples hands so they can go over it and see what's there.
Equifax
Trans-Union
Experion
You are allowed one free credit report per year from each of the three credit rating agencies. Why go through some website where they will hard sell you some service you don’t want?
none of the free ones you’re entitled to once a year tell me an actual FICO score
I print out the request form for the free credit reports and mail it in - it comes back within a few days - there is no score unless you pay - but the upside is - no cookies on your computer - no chance of accidentally signing up for something you don’t want - no unsolicited emails etc. - the form is so simple - just a few lines - check boxes at the bottom of the form and you’ll get a free report from each of the three agencies - if you’re married you also get one of each for your spouse at no charge. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
