Jack the cat is moving on to the West Side of Manhattan from Queens as he continues to regain his strength for his return voyage to his owner in California.

The cat, who was lost at John F. Kennedy International Airport for two months, was moved Thursday from the BluePearl Veterinary animal hospital in Forest Hills to its new state-of-the-arts facility at 410 West 55 St. where he will continue his recuperation. ...

The Norwegian Forest Cat is strongly built and is similar in size to the Maine Coon.

That's a BIG cat! I read somewhere that Maine coon adult males average about 28 pounds, females 22 pounds.

OMG, I hope that poor Jack makes it completely back to health. He looks absolutely miserable in the "after" picture, poor baby. That asinine airline should only thank G-d that it's not MY cat they lost. They would never recover from my wrath.

I have a show-quality Maine Coon, glorious in beauty and a true Velcro-cat. Her natural habitat is my lap, oooof. Coons can reach a bit over 20 lbs. for males, and a really big girl might go 14 lbs. My Bijou is a solid 10 lbs. Norwegian Forest Cats ("Wegies") are a close relative of Coons, but their lines are rounder, their back legs are a bit longer than the front legs, and they have a sweeter face. Coons generally have a more feral face with a squarer muzzle and a dip between their forehead and nose, are longer, their ears are set higher on their head and they are more rectangular.

Wegie: and Maine Coon (My Bijou!):

Only the bottom one is MY fur-baby. The picture of the Norwegian Forest Cat (”Wegie”) is from a webpage about them. My other fur-baby is the gorgeous little devil-girl Kefira, also a tortie and white. She was a rescue girl, a tiny DSH with brains she must have inherited from Einstein.

What a beauty!

Just found out poor Jack is now in kitty heaven. Its seems that in spite of a rally, his wounds were unable to heal because of the prolonged malnutrition.

Thank you. She is the ultimate love-bug. If she could, she’d declare Occupy Lap and just stay there.
