no, it’s ATT, through comporium, they said it is not their server, it’s ATT’s, so, I called ATT,

ATT wont handle it because I use OUTLOOK!

Outlook asked me the same 4 questions in a row in Hindi accent, so I told him he needed more training and hung up on him

I have rebooted, installed all service packs, SP1 for windows 7, the outlook service pack, all security updates

I am running a microsoft essentials scan now, too, going to do the old SCAN-DISK as soon as I can, too

Try to log on to your email using your web browser and your isp’s home page. If you can log in via internet, that means your username/password are still working and the problem is with your email program (probably configuration).

If you still can’t log in, you should consider the possibility that someone hacked your account and changed your password. Ask the people in your contacts list if they’ve been getting spam from your account.

Either way, you’re probably looking at some phone time with your provider.

Good luck...

Have you tried to log in to your email directly from the web portal?

The following mail server settings will work with all AT&T email domains: @ameritech.net, @att.net, @bellsouth.net, @flash.net, @nvbell.net, @pacbell.net, @prodigy.net, @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @swbell.net, @wans.net.

Email Program Settings Field: Enter:
Incoming (POP) inbound.att.net
Outgoing (SMTP) outbound.att.net
(requires authentication)
Incoming mail server: POP3
Incoming/Outgoing User Name: Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g., test@att.net, test@bellsouth.net)
Incoming mail port #: 995,
secure connection (SSL) checked
Outgoing mail port # 465,
secure connection (SSL) checked

I found this on their web site, it looks like your incoming and outgoing may need to change???? Maybe???

no, I have already logged on remotely through ATT’s page/Yahoo’s page, so, my user names and passwords are the same

the previous post with the wiki info sounds like a plan,

I am going to run my scans and then do error checking (SCAN DISK) and see what happens, then do a system restore if all else fails

oops - this may be important?

Note: When updating the secure server settings, check the SSL check box first and then update the port number if necessary.

More info on an update that was released for outlook 2007 called KB2412171

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/sendreceiveerrors.htm

Nothing worse than trying to trouble shoot your e-mail. Been there, done that! Frustrating to say the least. But, I do hope with some of our suggestions you are up and running again! Good Luck and Goodnight.....

I was having all kinds of intermittent and weird network problems last weekend. It wound up being hard disk errors that were fixed when I ran checkdisk /repair. Defragmented a couple passes, then cleaned out the registry and defragged the registry as well. I did a restore as well. Runs great again.

This has happened to me a few times. I am currently experiencing the problem in my outlook express acct. You have to reset your settings and I never write it down so I have to get the ATT help guys to walk me through it. Just go to the online tech people and they will help you with it.

IF you are still in (the area affected by the freak snow storm) your ISP might not be functional?

Cablevision has had numerous outages in North NJ, Hudson Valley NY and all over Ct from what I’ve heard.

I have had trouble like that with Outlook before. I know Outlook Express can have corruption problems. Not sure if the same thing happens with Outlook.

Try running the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\SCANPST.EXE file.
