'Rick Perry' disputes claim he was drunk on SNL's Weekend Update

Texas Governor Rick Perry, played by SNL's Bill Hader, paid a visit to 'Weekend Update' to explain his recent strange behavior in New Hampshire that some have speculated was driven by drinking too much alcohol.

Republican presidential candidate Governor Rick Perry gave a remarkable speech in New Hampshire last week that set in motion broad speculation that Perry, who is losing badly in every nationally-recognized poll, was intoxicated. Perry contended the speech was more reflective of the fact that he "felt great" during it, according to the Washington Post, where full video of Perry's speech was included.

Rick Perry was not drunk and gave a good speech. Someone edited the speech to give a very false impression. Suggesting anything else is a lie.

Agree 100%, some of my conservative brethren could pass for DU'ers these days. I've never seen anything like it, not even back during the Sore-Loserman vs Bush days. I find it truly disturbing.

FWIW, I thought Governor Perry's NH SPEECH was his best!

He came across sincere, relaxed and he knew his stuff.

He was not rehearsed.

He was the exact man I met in Tampa, FL at the TEA PARTY.

He was neither drunk nor on pain medication.

He was himself, IMHO!

Agree...those present stood up and applauded--they enjoyed this side of Perry which had been pent up, compared almost to stage fright. But people like to run with rumors and not base the candidates on performance or platform. When a person is then decided not guilty, many are still left with the useful mantra to bring up over again. Palin saw first hand how low the media can go to manufacture a story.

We forget who the enemy is - the Left and continue to trust the out of control media who continue to make BIG money for their outlets and enjoy their own BIG salaries from "entertainment" news which many still take as journalism.

People think SNL is real facts- like in Palin's case : "I can see Russia from my doorstep".

Pretty much shows the same Perry that we’ve had to deal with for a decade here in Texas.

Hey I was suckered in briefly into the Perry Ping list until he kept saying stupid things. This guy has no business being president.

I don’t think he was drunk-— he looked like I act after one and half mojitos, or one good margarita....fun— but not drunk....

I watched the video and LAUGHED my arse off!! He was very likable, I thought...Perry is not my guy....His heartless comment and allowing himself to get drawn into the nit pick with Romney has hurt him....but no one is perfect....

I enjoyed the video— really enjoyed it!! I think all the candidate should have one stiff drink and then these debates might be more fun!! The media would have a field day acting righteous and indignant....

The attack on him being drunk is just that— an attack to try and make Perry look bad....but a much more fun story that the dang stupid rock story......

All I can figure is that the mod didn’t like the article I posted from the same website that the OP posted from..

Perhaps it needed to be excerpted further.

Apparently it is fine to smear and lie about Perry all day long.

Yep, it's sickening. I find myself on the recipe threads more and these less. I think some folks have become deranged vituperative morons.

It is amazing that Perry has been Gov for over 10 years and nobody knew he was a drunk until now.

What a steaming pile, these accusations are.

“Yes, we all hate the economy in Texas for the last 10 years.”

I’ve done fine here in Texas for the past 10 years. Perry inherited a strong economy and, amazingly, didn’t do much to wreck it. His flooding of the state with Illegal immigrants only really hurts when they add up the state budget and have to start cutting areas that benefit legal people. But for the private sector, that doesn’t show up much.

So the question is really whether Perry has ANY CLUE how to actually solve problems. Others running do (and no, I’m not talking about Romney)...but we haven’t seen that out of Perry.

So Perry basically has sat in Austin, made his crony deals (which, fortunately, haven’t hurt the state much...they just stink), and now considers himself fit to be president.

Sorry, that dog doesn’t hunt (or something like that).

Perry is working right now to keep our economy vibrant.
He is suing the Feds and the EPA to secure energy for the states future so that we can continue to prosper.

Yea, as I said before, he’ll make a great Energy Secretary for President Cain (providing he doesn’t start his habit of Crony Capitalism again).

I am making a big pot of French Onion soup.

Never made it. I find caramelizing onions intimidating. Such a fine line between perfection, and burnt. I'm doing enchiladas verdes (pollo), and enchiladas de res. Borracho beans on the side.
