20 kids and counting! Michelle Duggar announces pregnancy

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar had an announcement to make on The Today Show this morning, which is that Michelle was pregnant with their 20th baby. I found myself getting prickly on their behalf watching the response and somewhat annoying questions by Ann Curry…

What a witness this couple and family are. I just love them. See what I mean by this clip posted at People.

And this clip just up on the TLC website…

“We are so excited,” says Michelle, 45, who is now about 3-1/2 months into her pregnancy and due in April. “I feel good. I am past the sickness stage now.”

The Tontitown, AR, couple, who are parents to children Joshua, 23 (who is married to Anna, 23 and has two children, Mackynzie, 2 and Michael, 4 months), twins Jana and John-David, 21; Jill, 20; Jessa, 19; Jinger, 17; Joseph, 16; Josiah, 15; Joy-Anna, 14; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 12; Jason, 11; James, 10; Justin, 8; Jackson, 7; Johanna, 6; Jennifer, 4; and Jordyn, 3, weathered the medical emergency of their youngest daughter, Josie’s birth on Dec. 10, 2009.

Duggar Family Helps Rescue Tornado Survivors

Proving that there is strength – and safety – in numbers, nine members of the expansive Duggar family aided rescue efforts in the devastated Joplin, Mo., after a massive tornado struck the town Sunday night. “This is the greatest tragedy our area has seen in a long time,” Josh Duggar tells PEOPLE. “One of the first people I met, he was looking for his aunt and I jumped out and gave him a flashlight and we searched through his entire house. A neighbor thought she’d gotten away safely, and I gave him my flashlight to keep looking.” Added Josh: “That...

I’m very pleased for them, and I hope Michelle enjoys good health through delivery. My doctor said it doesn’t matter if you’re 25 or 45: if you don’t have diabetes, a heart condition, cancer, or some other major health issue, there’s no reason not to expect a tolerable pregnancy.

Wow, and congratulations to the Duggar family. More power to them. And I second the comment that there will be more conservative Christians in the world thanks to them.

If anyone has anything bad to say about the Duggars just think about all the bastards that you support with your tax dollars.

The Duggars not only take care of their own but they somehow find time to help others.

God Bless the Duggars.

I think your doctor is full of it. The older you are, the more likely you WILL DEVELOP a health condition DURING pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause diabetes and blood pressure issues.

Personally, I can't imagine having that many kids. It boggles my mind.

However, it is entirely their choice. I'm not a regular watcher of their program, but I have caught a few episodes, and they seem to be good people raising some great kids.

I hope this pregnancy goes well for mom and baby.

This family can raise and support twenty kids better than many can raise and support two. With the added bonus that they aren’t grubbing for a handout from you, I or Uncle Sam.

More power to them..they have been abundantly blessed.

Pregnancy can cause diabetes and blood pressure issues.

At any age.

I was told this by my regular obstetrician and a maternal-fetal specialist. What are your medical qualifications?

Plus, Michelle already had health problems last time that caused her to have a very preemie baby.

She’s also at risk for having a down syndrome baby and twins. Twins would really be dangerous with her previous health issues.

I just don’t see putting yourself at risk when you already have 19 kids. I also don’t see how Jim Duggars would enourage his wife to put herself at risk.

No, I'm sure The Learning Channel pays them a nice amount for exposing their life for all to see on their TV show.

EARNING money is not a hand out. A hand out is usually chairty or tax money.

The TV channels that pays them does so of their own free will. The companies who advratise on the channel do so of their own free will.

Tax money i.e., welfare, and is TAKEN under threat of prison and GIVEN to another.

Your point is incorrect.

In order to opine that two obstetrical specialists are “full of it,” yes, I think you need some kind of qualifications. Either that, or simply admit you don’t know what you’re typing about, really.

Oh, nice. :-) I don’t remember hearing that you were having another chickadee. Do you know if it’s a boy or girl yet? I think the Duggars may have been married a bit longer though, so they had a head start. Plus their oldest already has two of his own.

congrats on the new little one on its way! you have a beautiful family already, too.

The Duggars story is inspiring. Early in their marriage, after fearing that the baby they lost to a miscarriage was the result of her history of BC pills, they turned to the Lord and said, "We will accept as many children as You see fit".

I admire them.

Michelle Duggar and I are the same age, but she was younger when she got married, and has had children at short intervals, plus some twins.

Our new one is a girl, and I’ll get new pictures on my page one of these days.

Well, these folks are helping to offset the aging of the population and are doing it in a way that conserves resources. One family raising 20 kids costs a lot less than 20 families each raising 1 kid.

Insanity, the last baby had major problems from the mother’s advanced age and again they do this.

Their kids are made to baby sit, having IMO any form of their own childhood. If their kids weren’t made to do most all of the parents baby sitting duties they could not pull this off.

This is also their business.

At that advanced age this is ridiculous IMO. Made for TV IMO.
