What browser and Windows version are you using?

The only pop-ups I get are new configurations that circumvent the newest browsers.

I use an old IE 6 based browser for FR. It is one of the earliest tabbed browsers and it has some edit/add-ons that no longer exist for later versions. I also use FF5 and 7 for general surfing and seldom have a pop-up problem with those.

There may be come configuration settings you can adjust in your browser to stop those pop-ups.

> I wish those who donated on FR were color coded so we knew who the freeloaders were and could guilt them into donating. LOL!

Funny you mention that. I've thought in the past it should be:

LOL.

Had to uninstall Firefox. It was getting hung up, etc...

Too many issues and not sure if it was my Add ons?

At any rate using primarly the latest Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. Waiting for Firefox to resolve their issues.

The new IE 9.0 64 bit additon is pretty good. Takes a little bit to get use to. It is fast and a big improvement from the past.

FF7 consumed over 400k of memory.

400 MB, I guess.

I am running FF7 on a laptop with 256 MB total RAM. Works OK, for a few tabs although 192 wasn't enough and had to upgrade.

F.R. is the only place where I get a pop up.

Also running v. 3.6.23 (now security update to 3.6.24).

I presume you have the popup-blocker box checked (Tools, Options, Content tab). I have disabled NoScript and Adblock plus for FR and don’t have issues with popups on FR at all.

Perform the following steps:
1. Enter "about:config" in the browser address bar, without the quotes, of course
2. Find browser.search.suggest.enabled and set to false
3. Close tab/window

Would unchecking this box: "Tools, Options, Privacy, History, Remember search and form history" accomplish the same thing?

I just got my third one in the last 3 hours. I wish they could target those who don’t already donate.

Are you referring to donate ads that show up within individual threads?? Other than those I have no other ads that appear as pop-ups on FR.

I’ve never had a popup on FR. Firefox with ad block plus.

I used Firefox ever since it started but finally gave up on it 3 weeks ago because of the memory hogging issues. 2 years and still it eats memory like breakfast cereal.

I tried Chrome and it works so much faster and so little memory. Set up was easy and it imported my favorites.

I was getting as much as 500 MB usage on Firefox. It was killing everthing on the computer. I finally switched 3 weeks ago to Chrome and haven’t had an issue since.

There must be more than one issue then. If I want to be sure my old xp desktop is frozen up when I want to use it, I just have to be sure Firefox is open when I walk away.

Not for me, it didn’t. Every new release, it got worse.

No. I am referring to a new window that opens while I'm on F.R. It is the "Donate now" form.

Other than those I have no other ads that appear as pop-ups on FR.

No windows open up automatically for me on any other site, except F.R.

I’m using 7.01. It seems to have stopped most of the memory leak problems I was having with the previous versions.

See my #27. Assuming you’re using at least V 3.6 FF and if you have the popup blocker box checked you shouldn’t have a problem. Two more things I’d suggest are:

1)Go to “Account” and under “Windows” click “Blank” (my setting; shouldn’t have any effect but there are some minor bugs in the software), and

2)Logout and log back in FR (remember your password). It may reset any glitches.

Let us know if your problem is solved.
