My first ‘WESTPAC’ cruise included a warning not to eat the local vegetables in Japan, with the reasoning being they were fertilized with human waste.
I guess our ‘systems’ supposedly weren’t able to process the food etc...
I think that ‘ban’ was followed for a few days as when one consumes enough local whiskey/alcohol into your system it kind of ‘fights off’ most fears.

Aside from two Ron Paulbots, most of the people at our farmer's market are conservative. I joke with one lady who accompanies her daughters that sell their homemade garlic and herb bread (soooo goood). She homeschools her kids and this is one of their many projects. I tell her shame on her for instilling economic consciousness and personal responsibility in her daughters.

Liberal vs liberal is NOT our problem - that said, if there's an 'Occupy" movement in their state, they should sue for being treated differently under the law. Occupy is setting up kitchens without permits or license... or licensed food workers.

Would they go after a dockside seafood restaurant, where the provenance of the food is less well known? With the ‘fork to farm’ restaurant, at least they can account for what sort of fertilizer was used and the conditions all along the path from field to plate.
