Pictured: The fairytale Western wedding of Lauren Bush and fashion heir David Lauren
Daily Mail ^

When political royalty weds fashion royalty, the expectations of grandeur are high.

But when Lauren Bush, niece of former President George W. Bush and granddaughter of former President George H.W. Bush, married David Lauren, youngest son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, they decided to make everything a little more down-home and country.

That's not to say that the event wasn't the epitome of fashion and luxury, as the newly-wed couple described their rustic affair to Vogue.

David described the event like 'a beautiful movie... like you were riding across the old west and you stopped in at a wedding'.

The couple certainly dressed the part, with Lauren, 27, wearing a long-sleeved embellished dress with tulle, lace and crystals. The look was completed with a headpiece around her forehead and a long veil.

Not for nothing. I had no interest in the royal wedding. Was disgusted by the media tizzy. But happened to see Pippa carry the train and went WOW!

What a great derriere.

She has a pretty nice face to look at also.

Ohmigosh you are right. That dress made that girl. You should have seen her walking down the aisle with the little children attendants, she looked like a fairy princess.

That Kate Middleton must be a saint to let her sister look that good at her wedding.

I like this Lauren Bush’s dress too, it’s very beautiful. She really has the Bush looks too.

Where are they settling, in the U.S.? If so, then our troubles with the Bushes are only starting - a 3rd generation of globalists eligible for POTUSivity will be coming forth starting in 9 months or so.

Fortunately for her, taking a husband’s family name is so last century. Ralph Lauren changed his name to sound WASPy. Now his son’s married into the ultimate WASP family. Good luck to both of them, they are a gorgeous couple.

Omigosh What a beautiful wedding photo. They look like a couple from 1920, or maybe 1875, considering the length of the groom’s hair. They are a breaathtakingly handsome couple. The photographer must have had a fan on them to make the veil furl out like that.

That’s the problem with having two first names like Ron Paul.

Heh, I have two first names.. or two last names. Take your pick.

(That is I know people with my first name as a last name, and my last name is more common as a first name. )

Absolutely sick to death of strapless wedding gowns. What’s really bad are the huge breasted women busting out of the strapless dresses or the larger women with cascading backfat that think they are simply “curvy” and want to show off the curves. There are beautiful dresses for every body type and strapless isn’t for everyone.

Not very many, I'm sure.

The same goes for the controlled contrast, large tonal range, and lack of flare and geometric distortion. Also, no visible metamerism ;).

On the other hand, never underestimate the regiment of FR nerds (of which you, of course, are a member).

It’s worth noting that the groom’s mother, Ricky Lauren, is or was a Catholic. The wedding was officiated by a cantor; I personally am saddened when people born to Christian families renounce Christ to marry, just as Jews are concerned in the reverse situation. I hope the couple are settled on how to raise their children with at least respect for Christianity. They met in 2004; presumably they have had a long time to grow a relationship.

As Kalee noted in post 70, the bride did not convert. But it sounds like she was a “nothing” and therefore did not bring a Christian co-officiant. That’s a possible upshot of her parent’s acrimonious divorce over her father Neil’s infidelities. Shame on him. I hope the bride can overcome such emotional damage.

Still, it’s hard to read the vitriol directed at the groom and his father on this thread. David is not only the heir apparent to his father’s business and currently the senior vp of strategic marketing for some 20 Ralph Lauren brands — activities of which conservatives should heartily approve; but he is also the head of many charities.

IMHO, Ralph Lauren — the designer — has done a magnificent job of “codifying” a classic style of American clothing. A celebration of our nation’s history is present in the details of all his styles. Believing that the son of Jewish immigrants should not appreciate the history attached to his good fortune of being born American is bigotry.

Ralph Lauren changed his name in the 70s due to the bullying he had experienced in high school over his birth name, Lifschitz. I had a classmate named Fuchs (pronounced fYOOKs) who did the same. Lauren became the designer’s legal surname before he married or fathered the children; so it is David’s legal name as well. I see nothing wrong with that.

Besides admiring the lovely wedding dress, I love David’s Western groom’s clothing, watch fob and shoes. Beautifully done. I wish them the best.

I’ve known folks named Lipschitz all my life (none of whom ever changed their name, except the women who married) and also know lots of folks of various ethnicities who’ve Anglecized their last names. David and Lauren are both in the top 1% of ACHIEVERS!
They share a background in fashion. David is now running many divisions if Ralph Lauren Inc, and seems to be very successful at it. Lauren has been a very successful top model since her teens. She now runs her own philanthropic foundation.
Why should this charming couple, who have their own accomplishments & successes to their credit, be criticized and trashed because of their families? Ralph Lauren is the ultimate example of the self-made man and the all- American success story. Starting as a tie salesman at Brooks Brothers and rising to the top of the fashion business world. Lauren’s grandfather and uncle were Republican Presidents of the US, a heritage to be proud of.
This class envy and class warfare is a tool used by the left to demonize and divide people. It has no place on a conservative forum.
