MOSCOW, - A Russian TV station said it has dismissed a news anchor for flipping the bird while reading an item about U.S. President Barack Obama.
REN TV said it dismissed anchor Tatiana Limanova after she made the obscene gesture while saying the president's name during a Nov. 14 story about the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.
However, officials with the TV station said Limanova's gesture was not aimed at Obama but rather at "editorial staff" colleagues who were attempting to distract her from off-camera.
"This does not diminish her guilt and cannot be considered an excuse. The REN TV management views this action as the gravest violation of on-air discipline and a demonstration of unprofessionalism," the station said in a statement.

Same action just a republican president. Do you think we would have the same outcome?

Back when Spiro Agnew was running for V.P. some guy flipped him off.
Agnew had his secret service goons arrest the guy.
He appealed the arrest to the supremes who ruled that shooting some one the bird is “free speach”.
Just don’t do it towards a child or the locals may say it’s
doing bad things to kids or some such.

I wonder if she knows what a celebrity she’s become here in the US?
Wouldn’t it be jiffy if we could team her up with “Baghdad Bob” and get them to do a few shows with Molotov Mitchell or Glenn Beck - at least on You-Tube? What a team they’d make!
Maybe they can bring her over to do a couple of U.S. late night shows? I wonder if she speaks English?
Maybe she can sub for Rush some day....????

You are correct of course; offending a fellow Communist (especially a Muslim Communist) is a serious offense in the Mother Country. Come to think of it it can be here in the USA too.
Now it says that Ms.Komrade Limanova is currently “unemployed”... over in the newly reconstituted USSR that essentially means that she is now really employed at the bottom of a salt mine deep beneath the Siberian permafrost somewhere, does it not?

There must be some way of getting contact information for her. It would be great if the international media would report on how Ms. Tatiana was much loved by Americans as shown by an outpouring of support by those who appreciated her opinion of BO.

There’s got to be a conservative cable or web TV broadcaster somewhere in the US who could put her on at least occasionally.
Have her read the daily news and whenever she has to mention the exalted One give her famous “salute”, only cover it with a “Censored” sign like they do for Steven Tyler on the “American Idol” show and “Bleep” it with the sound effect of a party whoop-whistle.
Alternatively, she could just spit.
Could she curse in Russian and not get in trouble with the US FCC I wonder? That would be a hoot! She seems to have a natural gift for expressing contempt.
Ms. Tatiyana also seems to do a bang up deadpan impression if I ever saw one. I wonder if she’s ever tried a stand up comedy act?
I have a feeling that her staff were probably trying to get her to laugh on the air - perhaps to lighten her up a little. If her bird was really directed towards them, then the coincidental timing was impeccable!

It happens:

Vice President Nelson Rockefeller appeals to the younger voters at this 1976 rally for Bob Dole (in bkgd.)

When George Bush was Governor of Texas he gave the camera a "One-Fingered Salute" before going on the air. While Bush may not have been the Commander-in-Chief at the time, this video is historically significant because the highest ranking U.S. official caught flipping someone off previously was Vice-President Nelson Rockefeller. Mr. Rockefeller was thought to be in the first stages of dementia at the time and died two years later. The same thing could be argued about Bush, but two years later he was made President.
And of course, the bird is flipped in every picture ever taken of any group of guys in the military...except maybe the Air Force...
heh heh heh

I don’t know whether VP Rockefeller “was in the throes of dementia,” I doubt it, because he was having a second helping of Megan Marshak, a 27-year-old research assistant. One version said Rocky had a massive heart attack and she was pinned under him. The way I heard it, she was astride him and attired in cowgirl boots and hat.
This being the mid-1970s, she didn’t need implants and he didn’t need Viagra.

I'd love to see her on FOX. She might have a hard time keeping up with their stable of "News Babes" perhaps, and would have to learn to keep her legs crossed at all times - but it could be interesting. Of course she'd have to be able to do the news in English, but I'll bet she'd be a corker if she can.

You know, Tatiana strikes me as being the kind of gal who could probably bite the head off of a ten-penny nail and spit it clean through a three-quarter inch piece of plywood.
Not a lady to be trifled with lightly.
We could use a few more women like her here in America, IMHO.
