Okay, folks. What if the following happens? LSU beats Arkansas, Auburn beats Alabama, Oklahoma beats OK State, Virginia beats Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame beats Stanford. Could Boise State really take on LSU? Would Houston jump up to #2? Would Oklahoma, a two-loss team, make the leap because of defeating OK State?

I love Boise State and would love to see them get another shot at one of the big boys. I suspect, however, that LSU is just too much for them. My guess is that there will be a rematch of LSU and Alabama. But what if the Hogs beat LSU? Is it Arkansas and Alabama? If Alabama loses and LSU loses, is it Arkansas and OK State?

This is quite a BCS this year and screams out for a playoff system of the top 8 teams.

Morning Doug..trust you and yours had a great Thanksgiving.

Of the 5 games you pose, all your results are possible, even likely, EXCEPT Auburn over Alabama..That's simply NOT going to happen..

BCS is screwy because of the computer ranking...VT at 35 is a JOKE..just look at who they have played..

Problem with an 8 team playoff..right now..if we took your top 8..you'd eliminate, Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, Wisconsin..and they are all good teams...far better than VT.

BTW..everyone is forgetting the SEC championship game..someone fromt he SEC West will still ahve to play Georgia, and them Dawgs would LOVE to screw it up even further..

I haven’t forgotten the SEC championship. It well may make the entire thing even more confusing. The computers will crash. Perhaps they should.

Hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving.

What if Oregon, instead of smoking blunt the night before and depending on home field advantage, actually played more than 11 minutes in the entire game against USC.

They would be in the Natty and would STOMP the SEC out of LSU.

The SEC BLOWS large quantities of dead penguin genitalia because of their pathetic offenses. Their only strength is their ROIDING NFL style defenses.

OKIE ST. defense is a joke. The sooners will crush them and the sooners SUCK.

Stanford, Boise, and Oregon would pound the crap out of any of the top ten.

Maybe Boise but not Stanford or Oregon and I’m a Pac-12 homer.

Stanford was pretty much given the game against USC by the refs. (3 or 4 really bad calls).

I would like to see Arkansas play either Boise or Oregon to see if your observation is correct or if you are blowing large quantities of dead penguin genitalia. Just to satisfy my curiosity you understand.

Did you miss the season opener between Oregon and LSU?

Boise State just doesn’t play enough good teams. It isn’t personal, I’m in Colorado and and love Air Force football, but TCU, Utah, and BYU all wanted out. Those were the 3 best teams in Mountain West.

Mountain West is decent, better than MAC or WAC or C-USA, close to the Big East in talent, but just not at the level of the big boys.

Yeah, that’s what we need: two more weeks of minimal classes and exam prep time for student athletes, so that the beer guzzlers and belchers can have the same two weeks to smear beer breath and gas over everyone else. Some people apparently don’t understand the value or need for an education, particularly and education for some kids who couldn’t afford to go to school otherwise. All they see is their need for more circuses. If the beer belchers could read AND understand history, they might see that additional circuses didn’t work out too well for the Romans.

My Hogs will beat LSU today.
I don’t care if we then get left out of BCS championship game. I’d like to see us be named national champs by the AP, which would be the end of the BCS as we know it.

Hogs were part of fundamentally changing the national championship voting. Back in 1964 when we won the nat’l championship as the only undefeated team, the pollsters voted for the champion prior to the bowls being played. How stupid was that? Alabama was undefeated too but lost their bowl. The Hogs won theirs. They started to vote for the champs after the bowl games after that year.

And Bama still claims the championship from that year.

How about this scenario:

Arky beats LSU
Auburn beats Bama
Georgia beats Arky in SEC final
Okla beats Okla State
Virginia beats Va Tech
Stanford beats ND

That leaves Houston as only undefeated team, and LSU and Stanford as only 1 loss teams. I don’t think Houston jumps Stanford and I don’t think LSU falls below Houston with the loss... so that leaves us with a BCS Championship game of:

Stanford vs. LSU

Two teams that not only didn’t win their Conference, but didn’t even win their Division within their Conference.

The naysayers of a true playoff system to determine the National Champion state that it will “make the regular season games meaningless”. Well, how meaningless is the regular season under the BCS system if two teams that couldn’t even win their Division within their Conference can potentially end up in the BCS Championship game.

My wife runs the weekly football picks at her place of employment and I’ve been including the Service Academies on the college side. Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t athletes at the Academies have to be pretty well squared away compared to their counterparts at other institutions of higher”learning”?

I would love to see your "What Ifs" happen, if only to document once and for all the utter stupidity of the BCS system.

Boise St. has no shot at the title game, nor do they deserve one.
