So it is about time for me to start shopping for Christmas and I ask help from other FReepers on what stores, web sites, etc. to shop at or avoid if they take Christ out of Christmas. This year I am adding a new addition to my list - if your company supports OWS with donations, food, etc. You are dead to me! I support the right to protest but when cops are attacked and other companies businesses suffer, I will not buy from your company! JMHO
Better to take up a huge order to the check stand greet the clerk with a cherry “Merry Christmas” and if the clerk won’t or can’t reply in kind, walk away.
Even the dullest of managers will get the message as they have visible in-your-face evidence of lost sales, and they have to reallocate scarce personnel to restock the shelves with your cart’s contents.
cherry should be cheery.
I think it’s time to eat...
If one doesn’t vote with their dollars every day..... Etc !
Starve the beast when possible.
My opinion ...stay safe !
All decisions are political in today’s dangerous climate. I am boycotting GM and Chrysler forever because of their massive public corruption. I am, like you, boycotting the companies that support OWS. And, if a Christmas advertisement says “Season’s Greetings” or “Happy Holidays”, I will not shop there this year. Those who disagree with me are free to voice their opinions and to support causes that disgust me, but they will do so without my financial support.
When the bell ringer (Salvation Army) wished me “Happy Holidays” I felt the ground shake a little under my feet. Happened this past Tuesday, I think it was.
Say, “Merry Christmas!” and I’ll respond, “Happy Birthday!”
I’d be surprised, too. What holiday did I miss this past Tuesday? Was it National Nailpolish Day? The anniversary of the founding of Macon, GA?
Usually the boys keep me up to date, using the incredibly detailed calendar in “Boys’ Life.”
It’s just the Salvation Army’s regular and traditional Christmas collection. Seems it began earlier this year.
I am hoping that the bell ringer was just a little off. In fact, I intend to report to the local SA and tell on him.
The bellringer at my Walmart this morning said, “Good morning! Cold enough for you?”
Is there a list somewhere of the companies that support OWS?
The only company that I know of for sure is Men’s Wearhouse.
The funny thing is if you look at the etymology of the word “Holiday” it literally means “Holy Day”. So no matter how hard they try, the secularists cannot eradicate religion no matter how hard they try.
Does anyone got a list of stores that are helping OWS??? Besides the stores that are getting LOOTED by these nuts!!
The one that ROYALLY frosts me is “Season’s Greetings”! I HATE THAT!
When I hear that one, I almost want to respond, 'Season's Beatings.'
Well, the Lowe’s “Lights Across America” TV ad seems to be an aggressively anti-Christmas allegory. One man is shown with a lighted tree in his home, while a hysterically happy mob rolls a giant ball of lights across the nation, which somehow pulls the cord on this man’s tree. He is shown making a move to plug it back in, but we never see the tree relighted. Instead, the continental U.S. is shown from space adorned with a network of lights from the secularized giant ball.
It’s impossible to see this as anything other than a triumphant declaration that Christmas has been extinguished and joyfully replaced with the nondescript “holidays”.
I haven't done a Christmas at the Credit Union, but I suspect there will be a lot of buying of Visa Gift Cards. If the member mentions they're buying for Hannukah or Christmas, I'll respond accordingly.
All this is to say, don't assume the the store, or the associate helping you is AVOIDING saying Merry Christmas, or dissing the holiday. We're just waiting for a signal to be clear which holiday the customer is celebrating, before we respond, so that we don't respond inappropriately. That's why so many say "Happy Holiday"; it's cheerful, but generic enough to cover all the holidays; Christmas, Hannukah, and New Years!
