Analysis: Start of long struggle?

Jeremy Clarkson should be sacked by the BBC over his "appalling" comments about killing striking public sector workers, trade union Unison has said.

The union said it was considering reporting the Top Gear presenter to the police over comments on The One Show.

Referring to striking workers, Mr Clarkson said: "I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families."

The BBC received over 4,700 complaints and has apologised for the comments.

Jezza has always been the loose cannon on the show. But sacked? Preposterous! More often than not, his comments carry the refreshing whiff of truth!

Top Gear wouldn’t be ‘Top Gear’ without him.

Clarkson often says things that are offensive to those who have no sense of humour or who do not have the ability to detect sarcasm.

Fire Jeremy Clarkson? Lol. Never happen. He is one of their national treasures and he is right. Clarkson is a humorist and everyone knows it. Anyone who cannot take his comments as humor should be shot too:)

Lol! I remember when Clarkson said that British cars of the 1970’s were better for setting on fire to keep warm than for use as modes of transportation because the communist British auto workers of the era spent more time on strike standing outside the plant around fire barrels than they did making cars.

Jeremy Clarkson is hilarious. Without TOP GEAR, BBC America would eventually boil down to one show about a gay vampire in the royal family in the 1600s.

Wow. 47 hundred Socialists was all they could muster. What a joke. Clarkson is awesome and I doubt he is going anywhere.

Top Gear US is garbage. All of there contrived stunts are ripped off from old Top Gear UK episodes and the 3 dopes hosting are total stiffs. Nothing beats the British charm and humor of Captain Slow, Hamster and Clarkson.

He was probably drunk. He should have a ‘Top Gear Challenge’ to see how many strikers he could run over in 1 hour with various model vehicles purchased for a 1000 pounds.

Exactly. Acerbic, sarcastic comments are Clarkson's stock-in-trade. Sometimes Americans are on the receiving end of his bluster, but we suffer it well enough. He really ticked off the Mexicans recently, though.

Apparently Jeremy's particular brand of humor doesn't translate well on Univision. And the local Communist contingent in the UK has no sense of humor. I'm not surprised at that... they're the same way here.

I'm waiting for the SEIU pledge of solidarity and the demands to take Top Gear off of BBC America.

Make it one of the longer "special" episodes and I'll gladly pay extra for it. In HD, of course.

The best thing on BBC America is Top Gear. Clarkson sometimes is a pain to be sure, he is given to saying snarky things about Americans. That said, he seems to be pro-England, and that is something seemingly rare these days. Despite all, I like to watch and I doubt if the BBC would be so stupid as to fire him.
