High School Student Fights Bachmann on Gay Marriage Stance at Town Hall Meeting
The Blaze ^ | 12-01-11 | Tiffany Gabbay

A cozy town hall meeting with Michele Bachmann at the Waverly Pizza Ranch in Iowa took a twist Wednesday when a student questioned the GOP presidential contender’s views on same-sex marriage and of what she would do for the gay and lesbian community as president.

“All of us as Americans have the same rights, we have the same civil rights,” Bachmann told 16-year-old Jane Schmidt, who identified herself as a member of the school’s GSA, the alliance advocating for the rights of gay and straight students.

“There shouldn’t be any special rights or any special set of criteria,” Bachmann continued. “We all have the same civil rights. ”

But that didn’t sit well with the student, who said that members of the gay and lesbian community do not have the same rights because they can’t get married.

In response, Bachmann said, “There are no special rights for people based upon your sex practices.”

“There’s no special rights based upon what you do in your sex life. You’re an American citizen first and foremost and that’s it.”

Bachmann reiterated that marriage is between a “man and a woman” and that it is still “the law of the land.”

Because otherwise you would have grown up to be gay?

Hardly. We rural kids learned to think for ourselves at an early age and weren't easily manipulated.

“We rural kids learned to think for ourselves at an early age and weren’t easily manipulated.”

From what I remember about growing up, nobody had to teach me or my friends to be heterosexual, and nobody could have taught us to be gay, and I didn’t grow up in a rural community. I suspect there’s more to being gay than what you’re taught at school.

The fact that the numbers seem to be increasing could be because they are now not so afraid to come out of the closet, or perhaps it has to do with plastics or contaminants in the food/water supply which impede normal fetal development.

For those who argue that no one has the right to deny consenting same-sex adults the right to marry because it’s an outmoded moral value that has no basis in law, then there’s no right to outlaw incest, polygamy, or bestiality. All can be justified using the logic of the people who support same-sex marriage.

Surely you are NOT suggesting that young minds are not easily impressed and corrupted? There are volumes of proof that kids are EXTREMELY malleable in a variety of subjects, up to and including KILLING! So, why would these easily misled youths not be convinced that homosexuality is an acceptable way of life?

BTTT! I agree completely!

But, let’s be sure to counter-attack their arguments with more than just the moral argument.

The idea behind giving government or business benefits to a heterosexual couple is that they can create life (all on their own accord) to grow and develop a cohesive society. Homosexual couples offer NOTHING to the development and growth of society, safe with the help of someone else! There is absolutely no way around that argument!

young minds are indeed malleable, I can remember, growing up, that many of my male friends were indeed cute or even handsome. However I also remember the cutest, sweetest girls in the world....pinafores, puffy skirts, mary-jane patent leather shoes, curly blonde locks, shy smiles......and as handsome as little freddy was, he didn't have a chance!!!!!

She gave a good compact answer. She got the logic of why heterosexual-only marriage doesn't violate anyone's rights out there but didn't get bogged down in it. She gave the girls enough that they can go home and think it through. If they make a serious effort to do that (yeah, I know, unlikely, but still), they'll see that she's right. It's a tricky issue because the left has done a good job of getting it into people's heads that sexuality is equal to race as far as rights go. Which is of course false, since society experiences one as an action or behavior (i.e. something you do) while the other is strictly a property of the body (something you are).

I think what I said was pretty clear-—that no amount of misleading information from my school was going to convince me or anyone of my friends to be attracted to members of the same sex. Do you think that you could have been swayed in that direction? I doubt it. Now as far as making these youngsters more tolerant of those that are gay, I think you are right, they could be swayed in that direction.

So you are saying that those young kids who have been convinced to kill (other students, their parents, wives of their lovers, etc...) were BORN with a proclivity to MURDER?

As you stated in your "pretty clear" post, "I suspect there’s more to being gay than what you’re taught at school." So, you think there is more to being a murderer than what these young kids were taught or convinced to do? Your argument suggests that society shouldn't be against murder and murderers either; I mean after all, it was "natural" for those people to want to kill - just as it is somehow "natural" to today's youth to be homosexual.

No, but I was never a follower on blind faith in others, as I am pretty certain you and your group of friends weren't either. And the homosexuals, who absolutely PREY on the youth, are looking for those who are easily lead into their bedroom.

Question for you: Were you a member of a street gang in your youth? I mean, street gangs have been around for centuries! Of course, there are more street gangs today and more kids are in street gangs today than ever before. Is that because the kids today have some new, natural reflex to join a gang? Or is it because gangs are more popular within their own age-group than in past decades? My point is that once something becomes popular and accepted by malleable minds, they will simply go along to get along in order to fit in with a group of youths their age or their mindset. That includes committing crimes, having sex, and I believe "trying" homosexual sex, which they otherwise would not do on their own.

Now, I was never in a gang, and I suspect that you were never in a gang. But, that does not change the facts as I stated them above.

If anybody knows that a gay man has the same right to marry a woman that anybody else does, it’s Michelle Bachmann.

This homosexuality is normal began with the Kinsey Report in the 1940’s. This report was done by a perverted guy who interviewed sex offenders and included child abusers in his study. This was the foundation of the modern sex education that is now prominent in our schools. The sex education group SIECUS also came from this study. I guess if you have a PHD after you name it excuses you from being a pervert.

Plastics have been around for sixty years. Is it a coincidence that there seems to be a growing number of homosexuals since the gay movement became so in-your-face in the seventies? They are playing with us. They are recruiting right under our noses. There is much about human psychology that we do not understand.
