When people were attacking Sarah Palin and calling her damaged, unelectable, too polarizing..ect..I said that we needed to stand by Palin because the media will use the same type of attacks against other conservative candidates as long as they work. Look at the current crop of candidates, how does Sarah Palin look now ?
The lesson to be learned here is that we need to fight and stop trying to appease the liberal media. Too many Republicans stopped supporting Sarah Palin so they could find a candidate that is more acceptable to the main stream media. Its very disturbing.
I think she would be mopping the floor with these guys right now.
Yep, I made the same argument many times over. Although I actually thought it smart in a way that Palin didn’t run, because the media would have been like rabid-wolves with her, going ballistic with lies and smears, and snuffing out her ‘message,’ and chewing her to pieces. The GOP establishment would have just happily piled on, of course. And the media would be giving all the other candidates a totally free pass, while they were on their bloodlust-tinged ‘wilding’ of Palin.
It was an unwinnable gauntlet for her, or anyone else who dares to truly threaten the status-quo. By sidestepping the carnage, she’s preserving her voice for her pet crusades, like combating corruption and the professional political class, and enegy independence. I actually think she might very well make much more headway going this route... which could even still pay off in the political arena as well, if she plays her cards well. And considering the ridiculous flop “our betters” at GOP Central are making of things, she’s looking better and better all the time.
Barack likes getting lewinskyed by men!
Her daughter was a stupid, self-indulgent tramp who destroyed her mother’s possibilities. Just replay the entire 2008 campaign minus the pregnancy & Levi Johnston. Big difference.
Palin 2012, guys. I’m not going to say you’ve got nowhere else to go. I don’t have to. The rest of the field is saying it for me.
As I just posted on another thread, watch for the MSM attack machine to swivel to Newt now, and maybe Bachmann if she starts to rise again. Perry too.
We know what they will do, and we’ve just seen how effective it is.
I got a fundraising call from the RNC yesterday. I told them - in so many words - to *$%k off.
They stood by and watched as the media and Democrats crucified Palin, then Bachman, then Cain.
The RNC is clueless, and I despise the Republican party elite right about now.
Ronnie Jr & Pattis Davis Reagan ... now there’s a couple of stand out kids!
We don’t even have to go back that far. We KNOW that the media knew about Rielle Hunter and BURIED it.
Someone more informed than me, please correct:
I believe that if Palin ran now she’d not be on several states’ ballots. Also, would this be true of a person declaring 3rd party status? Each state is different.
I’d like to correct the premise, too, that is that we didn’t support Palin...yes we did; the MSM destroyed her like Cain...we did stand by her. Cain, too...I would say our fearless radio hosts gave up on Palin early on, and tossed in the towel on Cain (Ingraham).
Bottom line is there is no chance of third party. Right now our choices are:
The last two have no chance.
Romney is preferred only over Obama, but believe he can’t beat Obama (only Coulter believes he can beat Obama)
I would not give up on Perry or Bachman or Santorum but believe Gingrich is likeliest and can beat Obama...Obama and the MSM will do everything they can to avoid debates.
Critical point...we can’t press our side like Palin or Cain to endorse too fast as if Gingrich pulls a dumb move, then our side is sunk...the others, Bachman, Perry, Santorum are conservative enough and like Reagan, can gain momentum fast.
Patience and let it play out.
Obama is the enemy.
Do not give up just because Palin and Cain are out - the Soros machine wants you to give up. Don’t let them win.
Somebody once told me that women occasionally change their minds about things.
“Just goes to show if you throw enough allegations at a Republican you force them out of the race. Your candidate may be next.”
I’ve done the exact same thing. Where was the GOP when the media was lying about the “wardrobe” incident? Where were they with any help or sympathy when her church was burned? Or when there was a coordinated Democratic attempt to actually BANKRUPT her and her family? Or when slimeball Hollywood cretins were making “rape” jokes about her 13-year-old daughter? Or when the whole national newsmedia was blaming her for being complicit in mass-murder in Tucson? Good lord! And to think of all the efforts she put in for them during the mid-term elections. The cowardly GOP never lifted a single finger to help her. Heck, they piled on themselves, more often than not.
I’ve exclusively voted and supported the Republican Party my entire voting life, never deviating even once. I’ve watched every RNC convention since the Seventies. Now, after witnessing the GOP’s three years of disgraceful treatment towards Palin, I don’t have the slightest bit of affection or allegiance towards the Party. I no longer give a single, solitary damn about them. I could vote 3rd-Party now at the drop of a hat, without the slightest qualm. That’s the level of disgust and disrespect I now feel towards them. Never in my wildest dreams would I have predicted having such attitudes just a few short years ago.
The Ruling Class hatchet men (and hatchet women) are taking out the most Conservative Republican candidates first. #1, Sarah’s down and #2, Cain’s down; #3, Bachmann is next.
Last one to get flattened will be Romney.
BS. Palin really began bleeding support when she demonstrated by late spring/early summer that she was not doing any of the serious things a real presidential candidate needs to do to run a campaign. Instead she ran an endless "will I or won't I" tease operation that ended up being counter productive and downright divisive. It smacked of someone using her position as a possible GOP candidate to milk as much money and attention as she could out of the public.
Cain's collapse had nothing to do with Palin or anyone else. Herman quit his presidential run because he had skeletons in his closet he couldn't overcome. Period. Cain simply could not defend himself, probably because some of the charges had some level of truth to them.
Maybe after 4 years of Romney the we will be really ready for Palin. I’m pulling for her to run against Romney in the 2016 primaries. Obama, the clear and present danger, will be out of the way then.
Old but relevant:
Once upon a time, I was invited to the White House for a private dinner with the “President”. I am a respected businessman, with a factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable electronics. There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the administration, but I paid it no mind. I had worked hard all my life to build it I live in a free country.. Theres nothing that the government can do to me if Ive broken no laws. My wealth was earned honestly, and an invitation to dinner with an American “President” or even with White House Occupier-in-Chief Obama is an honor.
I checked my coat, was greeted by the Chief of Staff, and joined the “President” in a dining room. We sat across from each other at a table draped in white linen. The Great Seal was embossed on the china. Uniformed staff served our dinner.
The meal was served, and I was startled when my waiter suddenly reached out, plucked a dinner roll off my plate, and began nibbling it as he walked back to the kitchen.
Sorry about that, said the “President”. Andrew is very hungry.
I dont appreciate I began, but as I looked into the calm eyes across from me, I felt immediately guilty and petty. It was just a dinner roll. Of course, I concluded, and reached for my glass. Before I could, however, another waiter reached forward, took the glass away and swallowed the wine in a single gulp.
And his brother Eric is very thirsty. said the “President”.
I didnt say anything. The “President” is testing my compassion, I thought. I will play along.
I dont want to seem unkind. My plate was whisked away before I had tasted a bite.
Erics children are also quite hungry.
Suddenly, I crashed to the floor. My chair had been pulled out from under me. I stood, brushing myself off angrily, and watched as it was carried from the room.
And their grandmother cant stand for long.
I excused myself, smiling outwardly, but inside feeling like a fool. Obviously I had been invited to the White House to be sport for some game. I reached for my coat, to find that it had been taken. I turned back to the “President”.
Their grandfather doesnt like the cold.
I wanted to shout- that was my coat! But again, I looked at the cool placid smiling face of my host and decided I was being a poor sport. I spread my hands helplessly and chuckled. Then I felt my hip pocket and realized my wallet was gone.
I contained myself and went to a phone on an elegant side table to ask my wife to come get me.
I learned shortly my wife had been thrown out of our home, my credit cards had been maxed out, my bank accounts emptied, and my retirement and equity portfolios had vanished.
Apparently, the waiters and their families were moving in. The “President” hadnt moved or spoken as I learned all this, but finally I lowered the phone into its cradle and turned to face him.
He quietly said, Andrews whole family has made bad financial decisions. They have not planned for retirement, and they need a house. They recently defaulted on a sub-prime mortgage. I told them they could have your home. They need it more than you do.
My hands were shaking. I felt faint. I stumbled back to the table and knelt on the floor. The “President” cheerfully cut his meat, ate his steak and drank his wine. I stared at the small gray circles on the tablecloth water drops were all that was left.
By the way, He added, I have just signed an Executive Order nationalizing your factories. Im firing you as head of your business. Ill be operating the firm now for the benefit of all mankind. Theres a whole bunch of Erics and Andrews out there and they cant come to you for jobs groveling like beggars.
I looked up. The “President” dropped his spoon into the empty ramekin which had been his Crème Brulee. He drained the last drops of his wine. As the table was cleared, he lit a cigarette and leaned back in his chair. He stared at me. I clung to the edge of the table as if it were a ledge and I were a man hanging over an abyss. I thought of the years behind me, of the life I had lived. The life I had earned with a lifetime of work, risk and struggle.
The “President” suddenly cocked his head, locked his cool, empty, eyes to mine, and bared a million teeth, chuckling wryly as he folded his hands.
You should have stopped me at the dinner roll, he said.
I think that Sarah bowed out solely b/c of family resistance. It’s a tragedy, nonetheless. Bob
That would occur in the General Election.
And STILL one has to dig and search to find even an obscure theoretic editorial on why there is no DEMOCRAT primary challenge to Fearless Reader, The Won, Barrack Hussein Shabazzz Bammy WTF Soetoro The Magnificent.
Yeah... imagine that.
