Excuse my lack of knowledge on this issue, but why do I keep seeing ads for charity for Israel.
Where are the ads? TV?
Continuously on Fox News
There was a thread on this a few days ago. Someone explained that there are a number of beggars, but just all are the ultra-Orthodox Jews that have large families but don’t work — they spend just about all their time reading and studying religious texts.
That is an exceptional situation. Israel is quite socialist - I do not believe there is any kind of serious hunger problem there and I and others are extremely suspicious about this charity.
Hmm...Musta missed ‘em...
Evidently, and according to the alleged “Rabbi” doing the ads...the Jewish people are only starving just prior to Hannukah (eye roll)
I find most if not all of these alleged “charities” are corrupt to the core! If you choose to give...give to the Salvation Army AND most importantly to the “Get that Muslim Mulatto Mussolini idiot OUT of the white house” foundation ;-)
I don’t think there are any Israelis living in real poverty. Certainly no more impoverished than people here. They do have a fair number of refugees from other places but I’m guessing they’re well cared for.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t unscrupulous fundraisers using an issue to make money for themselves.
I always give to the Salvation Army, they spend over 90% on helping others.,...I got an email the other day about what percentage each charity gives to it’s cause and the Red Cross and United Way were way down on the list......less than 45% went to the charities....the rest went to salaries and overhead.......
Plus United Way allocates a chunk of their donations to gay/lesbian groups.
I posted this just a few days ago, but here goes again....
While working in a plumbing department two Salvation Army workers came in and I helped them put together a shower for their rescue mission. It was all basic and purely functional. We put two cheap enclosures together to make it wide enough that two people could hold up a derelict and get him showered. They had a very limited amount designated for this purpose. I gave them $10 of my own and have made them my #1 charity since.
I could be wrong, but I thought the ads were for Jews in Russia.
you are correct
they also imported a lot of non Jews from Russia and former
Soviet Union. they run the underworld in Israel.
No the ads are defintely Israeli
I live in a town that gets many visitors, mostly from Israel, coming to collect for themselves or family members in dire straits. There is a local office that they must visit to receive a certification that their case has been checked out and verified. Each certification specifies the nature of the hardship and must be presented when a solicitation is made. I’ve met literally hundreds, if not thousands of such people over the last few years, so I can tell you there are a lot of people in extremely difficult situations financially.
I don’t know about the charity that’s under discussion in this thread, but I can tell you there’s plenty of poverty in Israel.
A lot of ads are actually raising money for Christian missionaries.
Consult your local Orthodox rabbi - Chabad Lubavitchers are almost everywhere - for reputable charities.
People think of Jews as rich. That is a misnomer. Life in Israel for refugee families and the poor is very bad. Israel has a high cost of living. Many things are very expensive there. Cost of rent/food/etc. There are a lot of refugee families coming in all the time, many having to leave all their belongings behind, and any money, plus there is little to no work. It is difficult. It takes a while to find, then get settled into a settlement, and things are much different than here, where you look in the paper or online and go check out a few places. It takes a while to get the paperwork to work, etc. Lots of reasons.
Same thing here! I found that whiney, lisping Rabbi doing the narrating so thoroughly disingenuous and annoying that I just change the channel every time he comes on...

Those were a few weeks ago, but lately it has been all for the “starving Israelis”. Horsepucky!

There is one charity that uses the money to bring jews from other countries to Israel..these are mostly poor jews and the elderly. It takes 250 dollars to support one jew to immigrate to the mother land...Iforget the name but gave enought once to bring one jew to Isreal...Its also connected with a christian group I believe... Its called the Israel word for return to mother land..don’t remember it but some Jews on free republic might know the term..Its the right of return...
